강릉단오제와 강릉의 도시문화 (The Gangneung Danoje Festival & Urban Cultural of Gangneung)

초록

강릉단오제는 한국의 오랜 축제로 유교적인 엄격한 제사방식, 굿과 관노가면극 그리고 흥걱운 놀이판이 함께 어우러지는 국내 유일의 종합적 무형유산축제이다. 강릉단오제는 우리들 자신을 소중하게 생각하는 즐거운 축제이며, 명절로서의 ‘단오’의 의미를 오늘날에도 알려주는 축제이다. 고대의종합 예술적, 문학적인 공연문화가 있는 축제이며, 단요 굿당의 아름답고 화려한 장식, 무당의 옷들, 춤과 이야기가 있는 무당의 노래 등은 많은 것을보여주는 축제이다. 관노가면극은 무언극으로서 현대 마임예술의 원조로 소중한 공연 예술이다. 중국이나 일본에도 단오가 있지만 강릉단오제는 다른나라의 단오와 구별되는 종합적 축제로 전해지고 있다. 우리의 문화적 전통이며 농촌, 어 촌, 산촌이 함께 있는 강릉지역의 특정이 고스란히 담겨 있는축제이다.
이런 이유로 강릉단오제는 1967년 I 월 16 일 중요무형문화재 제 1 3호로 지정되었고. 인류가 공동으로 보존하고 전승해야 할 것이라는 공감으로 2005 년11월 25일 유네스코에서 세계무형유산으로 선정하게 된 것이다.
강릉단오제는강릉의 역사와함께 유지되어 옹강릉지역 도시문화의 종합적 총결집판임을 누구도 부인하지 못할 것이다. 그 사적 의띠를 확인하는 단계를 지나 무형유산이라는 불안한 전숭체계를 보다 확고히 하는 노력이 필요한 시점이다.
예나 지금이나 강릉단오제가 멸쳐지는 강릉 남대천은 강릉문화의 중심이되고 터전이된다. 강릉의 도시문화 요소로서 강릉단오제는 농경문화에서 유래한 강릉문화의 전통이다도시문화 유산은 어느 것이든 인간에 의해 창조된 것이며 역사적으로 남게 된다. 그리고 그 만큼의 가치를 지니게 되는 것이다. 그러므로 지역 정체성의 현대적 확립을 위해 유산에 담긴 지역성과 역사성의 의미를 문화사적측면에서 지속적으로 탐구하여야 할 것이다.

영어초록

The Gangneung Dan이e Festival is a Korean traditional festival with long history and is the only comprehensive intangible cultural heritage festival which features harmony among strict Confucian-style rituals, Shamanic rituals, Gwanno mask drama, and joyous pastimes.
It is an enjoyable festival which we ourselves are respected as dignities and it is a festival which let us known of the meaning of ’Dano’ as one of seasonal holidays.
The Gangneung Danoje Festival is the festival of old integrated art, literary performance culture, and we can enjoy beautiful decorations at Dano altar, shaman costumes, shaman dance, song and narration in it.
The Gwanno mask drama is a kind of mime and the genre of valuable performing art and it is regarded as the origin of modern mime aπ Though there are Dano cultures in China and Japan, Gangneung Dan이e Festival has been handed down as a unique comprehensive festival with difference from Dano cultures in other countries. It maintains Korean cultural tradition and Gangneung’s local cha.racteristics which embrace farming, fishing, and mountain villages.
From these reasons, Gangoeung Danoje Festival was designated as Korean Important Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 13 in 16 January 1967, and it was proclaimed Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 25 November 2005, for the need of its safeguarding and transmission by the humanity was commonly recognized.
No one will deny that Gangneung Danoje Festival has been an integrated outcome of Gangoeung’s urban culture which has been maintained throughout the history of Gangneung. We has passed through the stage identifying historical meaning of the festival and it is time that we need to strengthen currently unstable transmission system which is inherent in the nature of intangible cultural heritage.
Gangneuog Dan이e Festival bas been held by Namdaecbeon Stream in Gangneung and it has been a center of Gangneuog culture. The festival as an element of urban culture is the tradition of Gangneung culture which is originated 감om agricultural culture. We need to light up the detailed feature of Gangneung Danoje Festival when it was held downtown before it started to be held centered around Namdaecbeon Stream.
Urban cultural heritages, whatever they are, are created by human being and left over historically, and they have value as much as they are. Therefore, their local and historical meaning should be continuously studied 감om the cultural historical viewpoint in order to establish local identity in modem times.
