초록

이 글은 SNS시대 짧은 시 대안으로서 단시조의 가능성을 트위터 양식의 활용을 제안하며 살펴보았다. 필자는 독자로 하여금 시조의 특수성을 경험하게 할뿐만 아니라 시조의 대중화를 위한 영상 글쓰기로 확장할 수 있음에 주목하였다. 다른 네트워크 서비스들에 비해 상대적으로 흥미로운 관찰의 지점들을 확보하고 있는 트위터의 속성은 최소의 글자 수로 독자들과의 소통과 공감을 이끌수 있는 미디어 매체로서 단시조의 속성과 닮았다. 140자라는 발신 정보량의 제한과 문학 유통 구조의 변화 가능성을 제시한다는 트위터의 특징은 파급효과가크다는 장점이 있다. 시조의 기본형인 단시조는 3⋅4조의 운율로 전체 글자 수가 대략 43∼45자가 된다는 점에서 전달력이 높다. 무조건 글자 수에 맞춘다고단시조가 될 수는 없다. 절제된 언어의 미학에서 비롯되는 단시조의 특징은 자수를 맞추기 위해 띄어쓰기를 무시하거나 줄임말을 쓰고 있는 하상욱 류의 경향과는 차별화되는 대안이라 할 수 있다.
