초록

この論文は田村俊子の論説を通して彼女の思想を調べるのを目的とした。まず、「日本婦人運動の流れを観る」ではカナダの女性運動との比較を通して女性開放運動が参政権の獲得を最初の段階に置きながらも女性労働者を中心にした女性労働運動でなければならないことを強く主張している。これは当時、母性保護論争の中心に立っていた山川菊栄の結論に全的に同義したことだと考えられる。山川菊栄は女性解放は、資本主義の経済体制の中では不可能であり、経済体制の変革だけが実現出来る方法であると主張したわけである。当時、社会主義に傾倒されていた田村俊子は山川菊栄の社会主義女性解放論に強い印象をうけたと思われるが、二番目の夫である鈴木悦の影響も一助したと思われる。田村俊子は「新しき母性教育とは？」で生物学的な次元での女性の教育を論じているわけではない。「女性」教育は男性と同等な条件で知性教育を受けなければならないという趣旨での田村俊子の主張は当時の男性のための女性教育、子女のための女性教育に離れていたからである。俊子は真正な「女性解放」の実践事項として男性との同等な知性教育が優先するべきだと主張することで、「家庭教育」に女性教育の目標をおいた教育審議会の決定に積極的な抗議を表現したのである。この二つの論説により、田村俊子は「女性解放」を超える「人間解放」の思想にもっと近づいたことが分かったのである。田村俊子は根本的に女性が一人の国民として、一人の個人として男性と同等に教育を受けなければならないことを積極的に論議の場で呼び入れたのである。彼女の小説に貫通するメッセージが論説にも再び別の語法で周囲を喚起させたことで彼女の書くことが注目される。また、田村俊子の論説だけではなく、カナダ以後の色んなジャンルの書くことを積極的に検討するのは、これからの田村俊子研究の多様性を確保する面で以後の田村俊子研究の課題になると思われる。
