소외계층 다문화 아동 조기미술교육 시사점 연구 (A study of early art education for the children of economically disadvantaged multicultural families)

초록

다문화가정 이주여성과 자녀들에게 우리나라 사회에 적응할 수 있도록 우리나라 언어를 배울 기회를 제공해 주는 것은 다문화가정의 보다 낳은 삶을 위해서 바람직한 일이다. 그러나 시골이나 경제적인 어려움을 겪는 소외계층 다문화 아동들은 다양한 혜택에서 벗어나 더욱 어려운 환경에 놓여있는 실정이므로 언어교육뿐만 아니라 친구들과 소통하고, 사회성을 길러주는 다양한 교육이 필요하다고 판단되어 소외계층 다문화아동의 현황과 문제점을 살펴보았다. 그 결과 열악한 환경에 놓여있는 다문화아동들이 스트레스를 해소하고, 잠재성을 길러주기 위한 방법으로 조기미술교육의 중요성을 주장하였다. 특히 조기미술교육은 다문화아동들에게 언어 이외에 소통 할 수 있는 방법으로 그 활용가치가 더욱 크다고 볼 수 있다. 그 내용을 토대로 소외계층 다문화아동에 대한 조기미술교육의 시사점을 정리하면, 첫째, 가정과 사회에서 소통하기 어려운 생각을 그림으로 표현할 수 있다. 둘째, 소외계층 다문화 아동들이 학교에서 잘 적응하지 못하는 다양한 원인을 진단하고, 대안을 제시할 수 있다. 셋째, 조기미술교육으로 다양한 잠재성을 발견하고 육성할 수 있다. 넷째, 조기미술교육은 소외계층 다문화아동에게 환경에 대한 적응력을 길러주어 친구들과 공감대가 형성될 수 있다. 다섯째, 소외계층 다문화아동들이 문화를 존중하고 올바른 정체성 확립에 도움이 된다. 여섯째, 소외계층 다문화아동의 결과물을 전시를 통해 지역주민과 마을 환경에 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 소외계층 다문화아동에게 조기미술교육은 이주여성의 부족한 언어능력을 보완해 줄 수 있으며, 아동의 잠재적인 스트레스를 해결하고, 창의성 육성에도 도움이 될 것이다.

영어초록

Providing opportunities to learn Korean language to immigrant women and their children so that they could adjust to Korean society is desirable for the better lives of multicultural families. However, children of multicultural families in rural areas or economically disadvantaged class are in worse condition because they can not access various benefits available. Therefore, diverse programs aiming to cultivate their abilities to communicate and socialize with others are needed. And this study examined the status and problems of the children of economically disadvantaged multicultural families. Based on the results, this study argues that early art education is needed as a way to resolve these children's stress and cultivate their potentials. Early art education enables children to communicate with others using a method other than language, thus its use is more valuable. Suggestions for early art education for the children of economically disadvantaged multicultural families can be summarized as follows; First, children can express their thoughts that are difficult to communicate to their family or people in society using pictures. Second, art can be used to diagnose the reasons for their difficulty in adjusting to school and present alternative solutions. Third, through early art education, their potentials can be discovered and cultivated. Fourth, early art education enables these children to empathize with other children by cultivating their abilities to adjust to their environment. Fifth, early art education can help them respect culture and establish right identity. Sixth, exhibition of their artworks could affect community people and village environment. Early art education for the children of economically disadvantaged multicultural families can supplement their mothers' insufficient language skills and it can also help resolve these children's stress and cultivate their creativity.
