초록

본 소고는 요한복음을 성서교수학의 눈으로 바라보며, 요한복음 스스로가 우리에게 제시하고 있는 신앙교육의 의의와 방향성에 대한 물음을 던지고자 한다. 연구자는 다음과 같은 가설을 가지고 요한복음을 바라보려고 한다. 즉, 오늘날 한국교회가 다음세대 신앙 교육 및 신앙 잇기에 고민하고 있는 것과 마찬가지로, 요한복음도 예수 그리스도가 그들 곁에 없는 세계에서 그리스도 신앙을 어떻게 경험하고 교육하며 이어갈 것인지에 대해 고민하고 있다는 것이다. 연구자는 먼저 요한복음이 교육학적으로 왜 흥미로운 책인지 요한복음이 가지고 있는 다면적인 모습을 간단하게 언급한(II) 후, 요한복음이 이방 세계와 문화 속에서 살아가면서 예수 그리스도를 기억하고 신앙하기 위한 독자들을 향한 복음서임을 설명하고(III), 요한복음이 고유하게 제시하는 신앙의 네 단계 구조를 살펴보고자 한다(IV).
요한복음 신앙의 첫 단계는 표적 신앙, 즉 보고 믿는 믿음이다. 표적을 통해서 드러난 예수 그리스도의 행적을 보고 믿음의 반열에 참가하는 것을 말한다. 두 번째 단계는 예수님의 직접적인 가르침을 이해함으로써 얻게 되는 신앙으로, 앎의 행위와 믿음 행위가 상호 긴밀한 연관을 맺는다. 요한복음에서 이해에 결정적인 역할을 하는 것이 아나그노리시스(anagnorisis), 발견이란 개념이다. 셋째 단계의 신앙은 모범의 신앙, 본을 보이는 신앙이다. 예수가 제자들의 발을 씻기신 것은 특별한 상징적 행위다. 그리스도의 낮아짐의 구체적인 표현이며 제자들을 향한 사랑의 최고의 표적이다. 모범의 신앙은 공동체를 하나되게 하며, 사랑과 헌신, 자유와 희생의 행위를 통해 세상의 드러낼 수 있는 열매이기도 하다. 요한복음의 마지막 단계의 신앙은 보혜사 성령과 함께하는 신앙이다. 보혜사의 주 역할은 지상의 예수 그리스도의 비밀을 알게 해줌으로써 아버지 하나님의 현실성, 그리스도의 현재성을 고백하고 발견하게 하는 믿음이다.

영어초록

The purpose of this paper is to examine the Gospel of John through the lens of Bible didactic, raising questions about the significance and direction of faith formation presented in the Gospel of John. A researcher approaches the Gospel of John by hypothesizing that, just like the Korean church of today is concerned about the discontinuity of faith in the future, the Gospel of John also asks how to experience and form the faith of Christ in a world where Christ is not physically present. The researcher first briefly mentions why the Gospel of John is interesting from a didactical perspective (II), then explains that the Gospel of John is a gospel directed towards readers who remember and have faith in Jesus Christ as they live in the Gentile world and culture (III), and finally, intends to examine the four-stage structure of faith uniquely presented by the Gospel of John (IV).
The first stage, termed “faith through signs,” involves belief derived from witnessing the actions of Jesus Christ manifested through signs. Notably, the Gospel refrains from coercing blind faith and reframes doubt as a rational act The second stage entails faith gained through comprehending the direct teachings of Jesus, where the acts of knowing and believing are closely related. In the Gospel of John, the concept of “anagnorisis,” denoting recognition of the identity of someone previously unknown, plays a crucial role in understanding. It facilitates a transformation from ignorance to knowledge, fostering love for the other, and even permitting expressions of hostility.
The third stage, labeled “exemplary faith,” observes Christ's actions and their outcomes. The act of Jesus washing the disciples' feet stands as a profound symbol, a tangible manifestation of Christ's humility and the utmost expression of His love for His disciples. A person who has reached the realization of the truth is the only one who will be permitted to enjoy the freedom and joy of taking part in this act, which is what led to the sacrifice of everyone culminating in the execution of Jesus Christ. Exemplary faith, or “Hypodeigma,” unites the community and bears fruit that can be revealed to the world through acts of love, dedication, freedom, and sacrifice. The final stage of faith in the Gospel of John is the faith in the Paraclete or “the Advocate.” The Advocate as a helper for Christians serves and fills the void left by Christ’s return to the Father. The Advocate’s primary role is to reveal the reality of God the Father and the presentness of Christ by revealing the secret of His words and life, akin to the earthly Jesus Christ. It is the faith of confessing and discovering the presence of Christ and the Father God through the assistance of the Advocate.
