태조 왕건의 봉업사 중창과 능달 - 봉업사지 석불입상과 관련하여 - (A Study on the reconstruction of Bongupsa(奉業寺) by Taejo Wanggun(太祖 王建) and Neungdal(能達) - Related with a Bongupsa stone Buddha statue -)

초록

Bongupsa was a temple which was located at the center in the central districts. Bonupsa was built in Unified Shilla period and it was destroyed during the Later Three Kingdoms. In 918, Goryo dynasty was founded by Taejo Wanggun. After dethrone Gungye, Wanggun founded Goryo dynasty, Wanggun ordered to Neungdal to rebuild Bongupsa. Until now, the specific reason why Wanggun rebuilt Bongupsa is still unknow.
This article is a study on the reason why Wanggun rebuilt Bongups. This article show that there were two specific reason about reconstruction of Bongupsa. The first, Bongupsa was a transportation hub. In Goryo dynasty, the capital was Gaegyung. Most people who went to southern part of country from Gaeguyng had to pass Bongupsa. Bongupsa was reconstructed in Later Three Kingdoms. Because of the Bongupsa’s location, this temple played a vital roll like a base camp to protect later Bakje.
The second, Wnaggun wanted to try to calm the people who lived near Bongupsa. That area was called Jukju. Behind Bongupsa there is a castle which name is Jukju mountain fortress. In later Three Kingdom this fortress called Benae castle. Before Gungye founded a country, he had huge battel with yanggil who was one of the powerful family around central districts in korean peninsula. In 890 Gungye and Yanggil armies were ready to fight a decisive battle. After this after being defeated at the Battle of Benae. Gungye could found a country which name was Taebong. Jukju people were very proud of Taebong because they were participate in founding country.
Wanggun founded Goryo in 918, from 925 he spent a lot of money to rebuild Bongupsa. As I mentioned earlier Wnaggun wanted to try to calm the Jukju people. Reconstruction of Bongupsa was one of the method to try to calm the Jukju people. Wnaggun ordered that project to Nungdal who was born in Chungju. Although, Nungdal recived money from Goryo government, he had to gather the professional worker form Chungju. This article proved that the professional worker’s hometown was chungju by a Bongupsa stone Buddha statue.
