초록

본 연구는 한국현대시사의 흐름 속에 형성, 변화되어 온 대중시적 지향의 양상들을 재조명함으로써 그 존재조건으로서 사회문화적 맥락과의 관련을 통해 대중시의 현실적, 수용론적 의미를 평가하려는 목적을 지닌다. 한국 현대시사의 흐름 속에 나타난 ‘대중시’의 전개과정은 의외로 긴 연원과 그 형태나 양식상의 고유성을 확보한 채 진행되었음을 볼 수 있다. 그 내용을 정리해보면 다음과 같은 몇 가지 특징으로 요약할 수 있다.
첫째, 한국 현대시사상에서 ‘대중시’의 양상이 나타난 배경은 이중적 모습을 보이는데, 일제강점하의 프로문학 내에서 논의된 대중화론의 연장선에서 제기된 대중시 창작론은 피식민국의 민중이 지닌 계급적 특수성을 ‘대중’의 개념으로 인식했다는 점에서 관념적인 측면을 지니고 있으나, 사회문화적 맥락에서 한국사회가 본격적인 대중사회로 진입한 1960년대 이후 현대시의 주류로서 서정시의 흐름이 1980년대 후반 민주화를 거친 사회변화의 배경 아래 일반 대중의 시민적 의미를 획득하는 과정에서 나타난 독자중심의 작품 생산과 수용의 경로 변화가 새로운 의미의 대중시의 흐름을 주류화할 수 있는 계기를 마련하게 되었다.
둘째, ‘대중시’의 양식성 확립의 측면에서 임화의 시가 지닌 감상주의적 공감이나 정서적 전파력이 프로문학의 현실적 이념 확산을 위한 전략으로서 당대의 일반적인 대중문학의 고유 자질로서 통속성을 일반화하려 한 것에 비해, 한참의 시기를 지난 1990년대의 서정적 대중시는 문체상 일견 자유로운 글쓰기의 실현을 통해 해방후 이어진 기존의 관념적 순수서정시의 주류를 벗어나 대중친화적인 의미전달의 가능성을 보인 점에서 대중문화 및 대중문학에 대한 엘리트주의적 관점 및 비판적 관점을 넘어설 수 있는 가능성을 보여주었다.
셋째, 기호/소통/문화론의 측면에서 현대 대중시의 생산·수용 양상은 디지털 미디어의 영향으로 이루어진 다양한 복합매체 표현양식의 작품들 및 작품집 생산 형태나, SNS를 통한 소통방식이 직접 언어표현으로 구현된 새로운 시 형태들에 이르기까지 유독 ‘대중시’의 영역에서 형태 혁신 및 양식적 해체의 시도를 보여준 것은 오히려 현대시의 양식적 고정성으로서 모더니티의 혁신을 유발시킴으로써 독자대중으로 하여금 수동적인 수용자에서 머무는 데서 벗어나 소위 ‘소비생산자’로서의 주체적 소통의 당사자로서 문화적 실천의 공간을 창출하도록 하였다.

In this Research, by examining the social and cultural context and acceptance environment that make the meaning regulation, character and poetry exist as popular poetry, or the trend of change in distribution path, it is expected that the aspects of popular poetry orientation that have been formed and changed in the flow of Korean modern poetry can be reexamined and through this, the realistic and receptive conditions of popular poetry can be reconstructed. First, the background of the aspect of 'popular poetry' in the modern Korean poetry is dual. The theory of popular poetry creation, which was raised in the extension of popularization theory discussed in the prose under the Japanese colonial rule, has an ideological aspect in that it recognized the class specificity of the people of the Republic of Korea as the concept of 'popularity', but it has a concept of modern poetry since the 1960s when Korean society entered into a full-scale mass society in the sociocultural context. The change of the path of production and acceptance of the works of the reader-centered works that appeared in the process of acquiring the civic meaning of the general public under the background of social change that the flow of lyric poetry as a mainstream was democratized in the late 1980s provided an opportunity to mainstream the flow of popular poetry in a new sense.

Third, in terms of the signal, communucative, cultural theory of text, it showed the attempt of the transformation and dismantling of form in the domain of poisonous 'popular poetry'. The new poetic forms in which the communication method through SNS was directly expressed in language. By inducing modernity innovation as a stylistic fixation of modern poetry, the readers were allowed to create a space of cultural practice as a party to the subjective communication as a so-called 'consumer producer', away from staying in passive prisoners.
