디지털 뉴미디어아트의 상호작용성에 관한 연구 -포스트해체주의의 미학적 시론으로서- (A Study on the Interactivity of Digital New Media Art)

초록

이 논문은 해체주의 이후 대두되고 있는 디지털시대의 새로운 매체예술의 향방을 예측하고 그 미학적 가능성을 모색해보는 일종의 시론이다.
오늘날의 현대 미술은 양식적인 측면에서 동일성 신화가 붕괴되고 디지털이 시각문화를 주도하면서 양식의 다원성, 무한분화가능성, 공약불가능성 등으로 포스트 해체주의 시대에 접어들었다. 미술의 최전선이자 인식소인 디지털(분산회로)은 예술작용과 기술문화의 상호 작용을 통해서 새롭게 다시 태어나고 있다. 이로서 공간 예술이자 매체예술인 미술은 디지털 뉴미디어에 의해 시간예술이 되고, 즉물적 매체가 비물질적 매체로 대체되면서 신매체예술로 둔갑하고 있는 것이다.
이와 같은 둔갑과 혁신의 현상은 이미 백남준의 선구로부터 시작된 빛의 예술이 그것이다. 빛의 예술은 디지털 인터페이스와 상호작용성을 통하여 노마드의 변주를 시도하였다. 새로운 매체예술가들은 무엇보다도 절대적 빛으로서 태양의 조화를 거부한다. 그들이 시도하는 디지털 뉴미디어아트의 상호작용성은 상대적인 빛을 통해 재현미술이 단층적 교의(동일성)로서 신앙해온 절대적 빛의 신화를 폭로한다는 데 있기 때문이다.
하지만 조형예술인 회화는 과연 빛으로 해방된 것일까? 그것은 단지 또 다른 빛의 블랙홀 속으로 빠져들었을 뿐이다. 알 수 없는 미래의 빛들이 출현해주기를 미디어아티스트들은 여전히 고대하고 있을 것이기 때문이다.

영어초록

The Interface can be the boundary integrating two types of systems or equipment and the foundation on expanded digital new media used in H/W or S/W. Contemporary Art shows the plural characteristics and non-pledging phenomenon with passing the post de-constructivism, and the interface of digital new media is in the center of the contemporary art. Therefore this study considers that the digital's cognition source is in the center of contemporary art's de-construction and changes, and analyzed the art theory of de-constructivism and the characteristic of digital new media as the technology of post de-constructivism. Besides this study focused on the interface as the driving force of plural expansion and analyzed about which visual, cognitive possibilities and phenomena showed. Through such analysis, this study estimated the instrumental expansion of digital new media and further possibilities. From the research, it came to know that the contemporary art's plural pursue brought the style differentiation and had non-pledging characteristics. Such characteristics accelerated the digital new media's expansion and differentiation. Especially, the existing art concepts have been reversed by the interface between digital technology and art media. From this research, it came to know that such characteristics expand and accelerate new cultural phenomena in the post de-constructivism age, and the digital new media's interface integrates with the beyond-boundary and the interaction, which takes the role of driving force for expansion of medium utilization. Digital interface has the characteristics of post de-constructivism by bringing the feelings of light expressed by artists into the phenomena of self-glowing, interaction and ubiquity at the same time. By doing so, the original work's concept request to change the roles of artist and audience and to convert the cognition source. The variation of ubiquity at the same time, the interlock of interactions came to give the nomad's attribute to the digital art media. Now it can be said that the digital new media's possibility as the media art and the identification of its values are started from paying attention on the attributes of interfacing digital technology. However this study has limits that its system is not solid because it deals extensive fields, and dismiss the interface's technical characteristics because it focuses on the interface phenomenon. So it hopes future researches to fill these gaps.
