초록

본고에서는 한국학 분야에서 디지털 인문학 연구 방법론을 통해 괄목할 만한 성취 를 거두어온 연세대 근대한국학연구소의 디지털 인문학과 근대한국학을 통해 최 근의 디지털 인문학의 성과와 한계를 가늠해보고자 했다. 본서에 구현된 디지털 정보 기술을 통한 근대한국학 연구의 성과로 첫째, 근대한국학 하위 개념의 해체와 재구 축, 둘째, 근대한국학 연구 영역의 확장 가능성 시사, 셋째, 디지털 정보기술의 적용 가능성 확대를 찾을 수 있었다. 반면에 디지털 정보기술을 통한 근대한국학 연구의 한계로 디지털 정보기술의 미발달에 따른 이른바 ‘분석 불가능한 데이터의 문제’가 나타났다. 또한 인문학적 해석의 불충분에 따른 한계로 즉 ‘과잉 해석되거나 방치된 데이터’의 문제를 찾을 수 있었다. 향후 디지털 정보기술을 발달시키고 단기간에 연 구 성과를 제출해야만 하는 강압적인 연구 환경을 변화시킴으로써 우리는 이러한 문제들을 해결할 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

In this paper, I tried to estimate the achievements and limitations of the recent digital humanities by reading Digital Humanities and Modern Korean Studies of the Yonsei University Institute of Modern Korean Studies, which has achieved remarkable achieve- ments through digital humanities research methodology in the field of Korean studies. As a result of reading this book, the following three outcomes were found as a result of the study of modern Korean studies through digital information technology. First, this book de-con- structs and reconstructs the sub-concept of modern Korean studies. Second, this book sug- gests the possibility of expanding the field of modern Korean studies. Third, this book con- tributes to expanding the applicability of digital information technology. On the other hand, the limitations of modern Korean studies research through digital information technology are as follows. First, in this book, the limitations of the underdeveloped digital information technology, the so-called ‘problem of the data that cannot be analyzed’, appeared. In addi- tion, there was also the problem of limitations due to insufficient interpretation of the hu- manities, that is, ‘over-interpreted or neglected data’. We will be able to solve these problems by developing digital information technology in the future and changing the coercive re- search environment in which research results must be submitted in a short period of time.
