놀이치료의 정신분석적 주제와 문학치료적 함축 (Psychoanalytic Themes of Play Therapy and their Implications for Literary Therapeutics)

초록

본 논문의 목적은 정신분석적 놀이치료 사례를 통해 아동분석관계에서 나타나는 놀이의 핵심적인 주제를 문학치료의 서사이론과 비교하고 연결시키는 것이다. 본 연구자가 정신분석적 놀이치료의 임상사례에서 경험한 아동의 놀이에서 나타나는 세 가지 정신분석 주제는 과대자기감, 박해자로서의 초자아, 그리고 투사적 동일시이었다. 첫 번째, 아동은 부모와의 공감적인 관계의 부재에서 자기감의 결핍을 경험했고, 그 반대급부로 놀이를 통해 과대자기감을 드러내게 된다. 이것은 부적절한 자기애 환상으로 치부될 것이 아니라, 견고한 자기 구조를 향해 나아가는 일종의 자기애 발달 단계가 활성화 된 결과이다. 그렇기에 상담자는 과대자기감의 표현을 수용하는 자기대상으로 기능할 필요가 있다. 두 번째, 과대자기감은 내담 아동의 지배와 피지배라는 내적 대상세계를 반영하는 것으로, 그 내면에 가혹한 초자아의 존재를 가정한다. 이것은 놀이의 주제로 등장하는데, 이것은 내면의 박해자로 인한 심리내적 갈등과 긴장을 표현하고 숙달할 수 있는 기회를 제공한다. 세 번째, 내적 대상관계의 능동적 표현은 상담 관계에서 투사적 동일시로 일어나게 되어, 상담자는 자신의 정체성을 잃고 놀이에서 내담 아동화 된다. 상담자는 통합되기 어려워 분리된 내담 아동의 일부분을 담아주고 다시금 독이 빠진 형태로 되돌려줌으로 치료가 일어나게 할 수 있다.
이런 정신분석 주제들은 문학치료의 서사이론과 비교할 수 있다. 내담 아동이 처한 실제 현실의 입장에서 보면, 그들에 의해 창조되는 놀이의 세 주제들, 곧 과대자기감, 가혹한 초자아, 투사적 동일시는, 문학치료 서사이론에서 자녀서사로 분류될 수 있다. 자녀서사의 핵심과제가 순응에 있듯이, 정신분석적 놀이에서 표현되는 과대자기감, 가혹한 초자아, 투사적 동일시는 순응의 문제가 잘못되어 발생한 결과로 볼 수 있다. 공감적으로 반응하지 못하고, 참된 권위의 역할을 제공하지 못한 부모에 의해 아동의 내적 세계에서 과대한 자기의 느낌을 경험하는 것이 시급해지는 동시에 가혹한 박해자의 이미지를 가진 초자아를 내적인 한 부분에 위치시키게 된다. 이런 부모와의 인간관계의 순응에 실패한 아동은 투사적 동일시의 과정을 통해 자신의 내적 세계를 외부 대상과 일치시키려 한다. 때로 외부 대상은 내면화된 가혹한 초자아로 동일시되거나, 혹은 그 가혹한 초자아에 의해 학대받는 내면의 부분과 동일시되기도 한다. 그러므로 놀이 상황에서 내담 아동들이 창조한 정신분석적 개념들은 기본적으로 자녀의 입장에서 부모와의 관계를 묘사한 자녀서사에 해당된다. 정신분석적 놀이치료의 치료적 개입은 치료자의 새로움을 특징으로 하는 치료적 서사가 이러한 자녀서사와 융합되는 과정으로 묘사할 수 있다.

영어초록

The purpose of this paper is to connect key psychoanalytic themes of play therapy with literary therapeutics through my clinical case. Child analysts can verify three psychoanalytic topics in their play therapy with children. They are 1) a grandiose sense of self, 2) superego as a persecutor, and 3) projective identification. First, child patients experienced self deficits due to the absence of an empathetic relationship with parents and in response, they displayed grandiosity in play therapy. This can be observed as a result of reactivation of the narcissistic developmental stage that is arrested due to the lack of an empathetic response of the parents. Therefore, therapists need to allow the patients to disclose the narcissistic fantasy of grandiosity. Second, grandiosity reflects the domination and subordination structure of their inner minds and presupposes the existence of the strict superego. Play therapy provides an opportunity of making themselves the master of inner conflicts and tension produced by the internal persecutor. It can occur by experiencing a new relationship with child therapists who reveal a protecting and loving superego. Third, active expression of the inner structure occurs through projective identification in the analytic setting, and the therapists lose their identification to become an aspect of the patients’ internal object. The therapists contain the patients’ internal object, which cannot be integrated into the patients’ inner structure and return it to them as an innoxious form. The unconscious process causes therapeutic effects.
When child analysts can understand their analytic relationships with children in terms of these essential concepts, they can use therapeutic interventions psychoanalytically. It is important for child analysts to see their patients’ play through the lens of these concepts in order to analyze the children’s inner worlds and conflicts. This paper attempts to connect these essential topics of play therapy to the theory of epic in literary therapeutics and elaborates on approaching to literary therapeutics with regard to the psychoanalytic perspective. The three main psychoanalytic concepts displayed in the play therapy fall under the purview of son and daughter epic whose interests lie in the adaptation of children to the way parents’ bring up children. Therapeutic effects of the psychoanalytic play therapy with children can be described as a mixture of both children’s own epics and therapists’ therapeutic epics. Children can disclose their own epics in the play therapy, which will be mixed later with the therapeutic epics of therapists. This comparison lays the foundation for implementing the theory of epic psychoanalytically for children and even adults who struggle with their own psychological problems.
