李亨祿의 冊架文房圖 八曲屛에 나타난 중국도자 (The Chinese Ceramics shown on the Yi Hyungrok(1808-1863?)'s Eight-folded Screen of Painting: Scholar's items and books and bookshelves(Chaekgamoonbangdo))

초록

본 논문은 삼성 리움미술관 소장 이형록(1808~1863 이후)의 책가문방도 팔곡 병풍에 나타난 중국 도자를 통해 당시 조선 궁중에 수입된 중국 도자의 실체를 파악하는것을 목적으로 하였다. 19세기 조선은 북학과 청대 고증학의 영향으로 문화 전반에 걸쳐 청 문물 애호사상이 대세를 이루었다. 도자의 경우도 19세기 들어서면 왕실의 각종進宴이나 進饌 의례에 쓰이는 그릇도 중국제로 교체되면서 중국 그릇 사용이 공공연히 이루어졌다.
이와 같은 시대 상황 아래 이형록(1808~1863 이후)의 책가문방도 병풍은 다양한기형과 색상의 중국 그릇이 사실적으로 묘사되었다는 점에서 출토품이나 다른 회화자료들과 더불어 조선 왕실의 중국도자에 대한 취향을 잘 보여 주는 훌륭한 자료다. 그의 그림에 표현된 그릇들을 살펴보면 중국의 송대 官窯나 哥窯 청자를 모방한 碎器와乾隆帝 이후 유행했던 중국의 분채자기가 대부분이다. 기종은 문방구를 필두로 항아리와 매병, 화병, 뚜껑이 있는 완, 수반, 잔 뿐 아니라 책가문방도라는 주제에 걸맞게觚式 화병이나 향로 같은 청동기를 모방한 것들도 있다. 색상도 紅地, 藍地와 白釉 위에 다채로운 색상이 채색되었다. 문양이나 사물의 상징의미는 길상적 의미가 주를 이루었다.
이들 그릇들은 이형록이 조선 궁중에 이미 수입된 것들을 자세히 살펴보고 그렸을가능성이 크다. 이는 그의 그림에 등장하는 기물들이 당시 청 황실의 다보격 수장품과일부 다르고 대신 조선에서 유행했던 중국 수입 도자가 주를 이루었기 때문이다. 더욱이 이형록이 중국에 간 기록이 없으며, 중국의 책가문방도를 보고 참고했을 가능성 역시 아직까지 이와 유사한 중국 책가도가 발견되지 않아서 그리 높지 않다.
결국 이형록의 책가문방도 병풍 그림은 19세기 조선과 청 사이의 도자 교류의 단면과 조선 왕실의 처 도자에 대한 취향을 보여주는 증거 자료라는 점을 확인한 데서 본연구의 의의를 둘 수 있다.

영어초록

Since the late period of the King Jungcho(r1776-1800) of Chosun dynasty, most of the Chosun high class had the favor of Ching China objects owing to the Ching's scholarship and the social mood. As for ceramics, although King Jungcho banned the production of the case-firing porcelain and the blue and white porcelain, worrying about the spread of the extravagance tendency, the use of large amount of porcelain imported from Ching China which were more luxurious than Chosun ceramics, was recorded in the royal festival documents.
Entering into the 19th century, Chinese ceramics actually became used more officially in the Chosun royal court. The bowls, cups, dishes, plates and jars for banquet and even the spoon were subscribed in the record of royal ceremonies.
Under these circumstances, the eight-folded screen painted by royal painter Yi Hyungrok(1808-1863?) seemed to supply the important reference to research the imported Chinese porcelain in the 19th century.
He was from well-known painter clan and had the special talent of stationery painting.
In this picture, he painted the craft works and the ceramics excellently and lively using the perspective and the shading. So his painting is available to infer the real objects.
After inquiring closely, whole ceramics are identified as the Chinese ones such as cracked vessel imitating the Ge(哥) ware in the Sung dynasty and the polychrome enamel ware which were popular during the 18th century. They were also popular ones in the 19th century Chosun high society. The kinds of ceramics shown in this picture are jars, vases, meipings, cups with cover, brush stand, incense burner and the imitating bronze ware, Ko(觚). The colors of ceramics are red, blue, purple, white and brown.
But yellow ones, Sung Ru ware, Ming red glaze and Jade of Han dynasty which were shown in the painting of Ching emperor's precious objects within furniture were excepted. The design and the material in the painting represent the scholarship, the wealth, the happiness and the longevity.
These vessels are painted by Yi Hyungrok who seemed to watch the real ones displayed in the Chosun royal court, even though he is supposed not to have made a trip to the Ching China.
In conclusion, the painting of Yi is significant to show the ceramic exchanges between the Chosun and the Ching China and the consumers taste in the 19th century.
