19세기 북관기행 한시집 『北征錄』 연구 (A Study on the 19th-Century Bukkwan(北關) Travel Poem Collection 『Bukjeongnok(北征錄)』)

초록

본 연구는 규장각 소재 유일본인 『北征錄』에 형상된 19세기 함경도 지역의 특징적인 인문경관 및 자연경관을 소개하고 姜世綸(1761-1842)의 관리로서의 실천적 삶과 작가의식을 고찰한 것이다.
『북정록』은 1821년 강세륜이 함경북도 鍾城으로 가는 39일의 여정과 1년여의 북관 생활을 통해 그곳의 생리와 국토의 奇觀, 勝景을 묘사하고, 백성을 觀風察俗하며 관리로서의 실천과 체험을 기록한 한시집이다. 姜世綸은 근기남인의 비조격인 菊圃 姜樸의 손자로 李滉과 許穆을 위시하여 蔡濟恭과 菊圃로 이어지는 南人의 문학적 전통을 이어받았다. 『북정록』의 한시는 理致와 史實을 담은 詩史로서의 성격과 인간의 순수한 정에서 우러나온 古詩의 풍격을 내포하고 있다. 한시의 리듬과 심상, 율격을 통해 미적 감수성을 살리면서도 小序를 통해 역사적 사실을 구체화하여 함경도 지역이 조선의 발상지이자 고토임을 상기시키며 민족의 자존을 드높이고 있다.
본고에서는 『북정록』의 선행연구에서 번역되지 않은 한시 중 세 가지 주제에 주목하였다. 첫째, 함경도 어촌의 활기차고 생생한 풍정과 주민들의 어려운 삶의 이면을 동시에 그려내었다. 둘째, 두만강 연안의 토지유실로 인한 개간의 현장과 관민이 함께 극복해가는 治者로서의 실천적 면모를 보여주었다. 셋째, 古土와 聖蹟을 드러내고 失地의 아쉬움과 유구한 역사에 대한 懷古의 정서를 묘사하였다. 이는 지역주민의 삶에 관심을 더하며 직접 현장을 살피고 실천하는 관료문인으로서의 의식을 강하게 보여준다.
『북정록』은 19세기 초 북관을 중심으로 조선의 실상을 노래하고 북관의 생리를 다각도로 조망하고 있어 북관 연구에 소중한 자료라 할 수 있다.

영어초록

This study introduces the characteristic humanistic and natural landscapes of Hamgyeong-do in the 19th century as depicted in 『Bukjeongnok』, the only edition in Kyujanggak, and examines the practical life and consciousness of the writer as a manager of the Kang Se-ryun as a manager.
『Bukjeongnok』 is the Chinese poem collection that describes the journey of 39 days that Kang Se-ryun went to Jongsung, Hamgyeongbukdo in 1821, and the physiology of Bukkwan and special landscapes and scenary beautiful scenary and recorded his practices and experiences as an official by taking a close look at the customs of people while staying in Bukkwan for about one year. Kang Se-ryun is a grandson of Kookpo(菊圃) Kang Bak(姜樸), the founder of Geunkinamin(近畿南人) group and literary tradition of Nam-in leading to Chaejegong(蔡濟恭) and Kookpo as well as Yi Hwang and Heo Mok. His poems imply the personality as the history of poem with reasons and historic truth and the dignity of ancient poems from the deep and sincere heart. In addition, Through the rhythm, imagery, and rhythm of Chinese poetry, the aesthetic sensibility was maintained, and historical facts were materialized through the soseo, reminding that the Hamgyeong-do region was the birthplace and homeland of Joseon, thereby raising the self-esteem of the nation.
In this paper, we focused on three themes among the untranslated Chinese poems in the Prior research of 『Bukjeongnok』. First, It depicts the lively and vivid atmosphere of a fishing village in Hamgyeong Province and the difficult life of the residents at the same time. Second, It showed a practical aspect as a gardener who overcame both the field of reclamation caused by land loss along the Tuman River and the public. Third, It reveals the homeland and grades, and describes the feelings of regret and retrospective about the long history. This adds to the interest in the lives of local residents and strongly demonstrates the consciousness of a bureaucratic writer who directly observes and practices the field.
『Bukjeongnok』 recorded the reality of Chosun country around Bukkwan region and viewed the physiology of Bukkwan region from various angles in the early 19th century, so it can be a valuable resource for the study of the Bukkwan region.
