초록

Kamo no Chomei was a representative writer of Japanese medieval literature leaving “Hojoki.” This study will focus on Chomei's father's influences based on Chomei's growth background, father's death, and Negi incident.
Chomei was born as a second child of the General Manager of Shimogamo Shrine and grew up in a wealthy family. At the age of 7, he joined the noble side with the support of his father, receiving the least authority to enter the palace. This was also possible because of his father's power. His father who was his powerful supporter passed away all of a sudden when he was in his late teenage years.
His father's death left such a huge impact on him that he wrote several poems about him. In "Hojoki", an essay he wrote when he was 58, the fact that he wrote [some 40 years after being matured] [some 30 years of pain] which reflected his father's death is also interesting.
After his father's death, what helped Chomei out was music and poems. When he was working harder than anyone at "Wakadoro" where he took charge of publishing "Shin Kokin Shu", Negi incident broke out. There was a vacancy at Gawai Shrine where his father worked. At the time, Chomei was already 50 and he thought it was the last chance and a hope that he could follow his father's footsteps. However, the result came out negative. Chomei, who was expecting to follow his father's trace could not follow his dream because of the failure in change of personnel, gave up and left home.
Chomei, who threw out his position as an employee of Wakadoro where his future success was guaranteed, thought that his ultimate goal was to be Negi af Gawai Shrine and follow his father's footsteps.
As a result, in Chomei's life, his father had a greater impact than expected.
