분단의 상황을 넘어선 그리스도의 현실, 칼 바르트 신학의 기여 (Contribution of Barth’s Theology to overcome the Situation of Divided Nation)

초록

반세기가 넘는 분단의 현실 속에 통일의 미래를 지향하는 한국교회는 대립과 분열을 넘어선 화해의 신학을 지향하고 통일의 초석을 놓아야 할 요청을 받고 있다. 이러한 입장에서, 2차 세계대전이끝난 후 동-서 냉전이 진행되던 가운데 칼 바르트의 화해론적 신학은 우리의 신학적 현실에 중요한 지침을 준다. 냉전 초기 바르트의신학의 행로에 대한 많은 질문과 비판이 있었다. 그로부터 반공주의적 비판을 기대했던 많은 이들이 바르트의 중립적 행동에 비판을 가하기도 했으며, 바르트 스스로도 특정 진영논리에 휘말리기를 거부했다. 그러나 그의 신학은 이미 어떤 한 진영의 논리로 묶어둘 수 없는 성격을 담지하고 있었다. 바르트에게 있어서 중요한 것은 오히려인간의 어떠한 현실에 구애되지 않는 그리스도의 화해론적 현실이었다. 여기에서 우리는 바르트가 전개했던 그리스도의 화해론 현실이 전후 독일의 상황 속에서, 그리고 분단의 현실 속에서 어떠한 영향을 끼쳤는가 하는 점을 질문할 수 있다. 본문은 특히 바르트가 주도했던 바르멘 신학선언(1934)과 다름슈타트 선언(1947)이 냉전과분단의 시기에도 신학적 이정표로 작용하며 동-서독 양쪽 사회에 큰영향을 끼쳤던 사실을 고찰하고자 한다. 바르트의 신학은 현실 너머에 있는 미래지향적 성격을 담고 있었다. 바르트의 신학이 담고 있는 이러한 성격의 고찰을 통해 분단의 극복을 지향하는 한국교회의신학을 위한 지향점을 모색해보고자 한다.

영어초록

For the church of Korea, it is an urgent task to present a vision of theology of reconciliation to its country which has been divided as the north and the south for more than a half century. How can Korean church present its people a better way to reach the reconciliation, overcoming the conflicts and hostilities between the north and the south? Regarding this question, Barth’s theology of reconciliation can provide a direction in finding an answer. During the cold war period, Barth had to face many questions and criticisms because he did not show a clear stance on the communism of the eastern block. In fact, he criticized many times not only eastern countries but also policies of western countries at the same time. For him, it was not the essential question to which block he belonged; he made effort to proclaim the reality of Christ’s suffering from the evil in the world. Regarding the situation of division, he wished also that the power of reconciliation dominate the divided nations, eliminating the hostilities between the people in the divided countries. On one hand, this attitude is enabled by his explanation of the relationship between the church and nation, which is dealt in his lectures “Justification and the Law” (1938) and “Christian Community and Citizen Community” (1947). In these lectures, he emphasized that there was only one center both for the church and for the world, namely the Christ. This idea was suggested in the Barmen Declaration. During the cold war, he made it concrete that the theology of reconciliation could shed light on the future even though the contemporary world was afflicted with the doomed prospect. Hence, with the study of role of Barth’s theology in the situation of the divided Germany, we can attain a way to reconciliation in Korea. Especially, this thesis focuses on the analysis of the influences of the Darmstadt Declaration (1947) and Barmen Declaration (1934) on both sides of the divided Germany with more analysis on the eastern side.
