초록

패션은 환경적인 영향과 함께 윤리적 책임까지 염두에 두어야 하는 서스테이너블 페러다임으로 전환되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 현대 사회에서 사회적, 경제적, 환경적 요인을 고려한 서스테이너블 관점에서 컬렉션을 전개한 스텔라 맥카트니의 패션디자인 특성을 고찰하여 디자인 개발을 위한 기초자료를 제공하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 방법으로는 국내외 선행연구를 통해 서스테이너블 디자인과 패션의 개념을 살펴보고 패션 사례들을 수집하여 유형별로 분류하고 환경오염 저감, 노동자들의 근로환경 개선 등 윤리적 패션과 사회적 슬로건을 내걸고 모든 제품에서 친환경주의를 실천하고 있는 공로를 인정받아 타임에서 선정한 ‘우리 시대의 가장 영향력 있는 사람’으로 선정된 영국의 대표적인 서스테이너블 패션디자이너 스텔라 맥카트니의 2018S/S부터 2022F/W까지 최근 5년간 컬렉션 자료를 수집 분석하였다. 스텔라 맥카트니 컬렉션에 나타난 서스테이너블 패션디자인 특성은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 실루엣은 루즈, 박시, 피티드 순으로 나타났다. 둘째, 디테일과 트리밍은 버튼, 포켓, 지퍼 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 컬러는 N계열, B계열, R계열, G계열, Y계열 순으로 나타났다. 넷째, 소재는 코튼과 데님, 실크, 울 순으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 아이템은 원피스와 점프수트, 팬츠, 코트 순으로 나타났다. 패션브랜드의 의식 개선을 바탕으로 서스테이너블 패션디자인이라는 가치 실현을 위해 노력해야 할 것이다.

영어초록

Fashion is changing into a sustainable paradigm that requires an integrated way of thinking that considers not only its environmental influences but also ethical responsibilities. This study aims to provide basic data that can help develop a design by looking into the characteristics of the fashion designs shown in the Stella McCartney’s collections that were made from a sustainable perspective in consideration of social, economic, and environmental factors of our modern society. The study examined the concept of a sustainable fashion based on the literature such as books on the relevant fields and academic journals and collected examples in fashion, which were then classified by type. On top of that, the study collected and analyzed the data about the collections of the nine seasons for the recent five years from 2018 S/S to 2022 F/W of the UK’s leading sustainable designer Stella McCartney who has been pursuing an ethical fashion as her slogan that cares about social issues such as the reduction of environmental pollution and the improvement of working conditions and was selected as one of the Time’s ‘The Most Influential People’ in recognition for her hard work to make all of her products in an environmentally friendly way. The characteristics of the sustainable fashion designs shown in the Stella McCartney’s collections that abide by the rules of nature friendliness and social justice are as follows. First, the themes for each season were consistently about being environmentally friendly and the themes include waste, recycle, nature, animal-loving ethos, organic, and vegan leather. Second, a silky and sensual loose silhouette was the most often used style followed by boxy and fitted ones, and buttons, pockets, and zippers were the main details and trimmings. Third, shades of N color were mostly used with the shades of B, R, G, and Y colors being in order. Fourth, with all the materials in compliance with the Fur Free policy and the collaboratively developed new materials being mainly used including eco-friendly materials such as organic cotton, denim, silk, and wool, and recycled polyester and nylon were also used. Fifth, natural dresses and jumpsuits were the most used items followed by pants and outers. Based on the improved awareness of the brand, a continuous effort to deliver the value of a creative sustainable design is necessary.
