공주시 구도심지역 공간구조 분석에 관한 연구 (A study on the spatial structur analysis of the old downtown area of ​​Gongju-si)

초록

(연구배경 및 목적) 공주시 구도심은 옛 백제의 수도로서 간직하고 있는 역사·문화자원 이외에도 조선시대 및 일제 강점기 이후 근대건축물 등 다양한 역사적 가치와 이야기를 간직하고 있다. 쇠퇴화 된 구도심을 활성화 시키기 위해 최근 공주시는 많은 예산을 투입하여 다양한 도시재생프로그램을 진행하고 있으나, 아직 그 효과는 미미한 편이다. 본 연구는 공주시 구도심지역을 공간구조적인 관점에서 분석하여 현재 진행중인 도시재생 방향을 재점검해 보고, 구도심 활성화를 위한 시사점을 도출하는 것을 그 목적으로 한다. (연구방법) 공간구문론(space syntax) 프로그램을 이용하여 공주시의 광역 분석을 먼저 실시한다. 주요 간선도로의 공간구문 지표값을 통해 공주 도심의 전체적인 연결성, 통제성, 통합성 정도를 파악한다. 그 다음으로 세부적인 분석을 위하여 금강 이남 구도심지역과 금강 이북 신도심지역으로 나누어 보다 구체적인 협역 분석을 실시한다. (결과) 금강 이남 구도심지역이 금강 이북 신도심지역 보다 단위공간수가 더 많고, 금강 이북 신도심지역의 연결도와 통합도 평균값이 더 높은 것을 볼 때, 금강 이북 신도심지역의 도시공간조직이 더 직선적인 도로체계로 더 길게 뻗어 있는 구성으로 되어 있다고 판단할 수 있고, 금강 이남 구도심지역의 도시공간조직은 직선적인 도로 보다는 유기적인 도로체계가 더 많고 길이도 짧게 구성되어 있다고 판단할 수 있다. (결론) 첫째, 공주시 금강 이남 구도심지역에는 다양한 역사·문화적 자산들을 보유하고 있음에도 활성화 되지 못하는 이유 중 하나는 도시 구조적 원인이 작용했을 것으로 판단된다. 둘째, 광역분석에서는 금강 이북의‘금벽로’가 공주시 도심에서 연결도, 통제도, 통합도가 높은 가장 핵심적인 도로 역할을 하고 있고, 금강 이북과 금강 이남을 연결하는 세 개의 교량(공주대교, 금강교, 백제큰다리)이 금강 이북의 신도심과 금강 이남의 구도심을 연결하는 통합도가 높은 공간으로 분석되었다. 셋째, 협역분석에서는 공주 금강 이남 구도심에서 남북방향의 ‘웅진로’와 동서방향의 ‘무령로’가 교차하는 ‘중동교차로’를 중심으로 십자 모양으로 통합도, 연결도, 통제도가 비교적 높은 중심적인 공간구조를 형성하고 있다. 넷째, 공주 금강 이남 구도심으로 접근성을 높이기 위해 ‘금강교’의 개선이 시급하며, 공주대교 남단 ‘강남교차로’에서 ‘버드나무길 교차로’까지의 구간은 통합도를 높이기 위한 도로 선형의 직선화 방안도 고려해 볼 필요가 있다.

영어초록

(Background and Purpose) In addition to the resources kept as the old capital of Baekje, the old downtown of Gongju City holds various historical values ​​and stories, such as modern buildings from the Joseon Dynasty and Japanese colonial period. In order to revitalize the deteriorated old downtown, the city of Gongju has recently invested a lot of budget to carry out various urban regeneration programs, but the effect is still insignificant. The aim of this research is to analyze the old urban center of Gongju City in the perspective of its spatial structure, reexamine the direction of urban regeneration which is currently underway, and induce implications for activation of the old urban center. (Method) First, using the space syntax program, this research does the wide area analysis of the urban center of Gongju. Using the values of space syntax indicators of major roads, this research examines overall connectivity, control value, and integration levels of the urban area. Next, for more detailed analysis, this research divides the area into two parts: the old urban center south of the Geum River and the new urban center north of the river. And, this research does the more concrete and smaller area analysis. (Results) Given that the old urban center has a larger number of unit spaces than the new one, the latter has higher mean values of connectivity and integration than the former one, which may means that the spatial structure of the latter is composed of more straight line roads, and that the former is composed of more organic road systems and shorter unit spaces. (Conclusions) First, one of the reasons why the old urban center, while it contains various historical and cultural assets, has not been well developed lies in its urban structure. Second, the wider area analysis found that ‘Geumbyeogro’ Street in the north of the river is the most essential street which is high in connectivity, control value, and integration levels, and the three bridges connecting the northern and southern parts of the city (‘Gongjudaegyo’, ‘Geumganggyo’, and ‘Baekjaekeundari’) are the spaces connecting the two areas and high in integration. Third, the smaller area analysis forms a cross-shaped spatial structure relatively high in integration, connectivity, and control levels around the ‘Jungdong Gyocharo’ [crossroads] where ‘Woongjinro’, the street cutting the old urban center from south to north and ‘Mooryeongro’, the street cutting it from east to west meet. Forth, to improve accessibility to the old urban center on the south of the river, it is urgent to revise the ‘Geumganggyo’. The curved road in the section between the ‘Gangnam Gyocharo’ at the south of ‘Gongjudaegyo‘ and ‘Beodeunamugil Gyocharo’ can be considered to be made into a straight line street.
