玄谷 趙緯韓 漢詩 硏究-挽詩를 중심으로 (A Study on Chinese Poems by Hyun-gok Jo Wihan -Focusing on Manshi)

초록

본고는 현곡 조위한의 玄谷集 에 수록된 한시를 대상으로 일단을 살펴본 것에 해당된다. 현곡은 한시 창작에 있어 당대에 인정을 받았으며 권필, 이안눌 등과 깊은 교유를 맺었다. 하지만 명성에 비해 현곡의 한시에 대한 연구는 거의 이뤄지지 않았으며, 본고는 이에 대한 비판적 관점에서 현곡의 한시에 주목하였다. 현곡의 한시는 450제 정도에 달하는데 그 가운데 만시와 차운시가 절반 정도를 차지한다. 본고는 애도의 정서가 함축된 만시와 회억시 등을 중심으로 현곡의 한시에 노정된 감성의 양상을 분석하는데 목적을 두었다.
현곡의 한시는 현곡의 생애와 관련하여 면밀하게 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 현곡은 83세의 수를 누릴 만큼 장수했으나 실제 삶의 행로는 다사다난했다. 삶의 여정은 임진왜란, 인조반정, 병자호란 등 국내외 각종 사건을 관통하였고 이로 인해 부모, 형제, 처자식과 이산을 경험하였다. 이러한 삶의 과정을 통해 견인된 복잡다단한 감정은 시문으로 표출되고 있다. 특히 처자식의 죽음과 관련하여 회한의 정서가 노정되고 있고, 형제들에 대해서는 상대적인 감성의 양상이 특기되고 있다.
한편 현곡은 관직과 학연 등 공적, 사적 관계를 맺은 사람들과의 관계에 대한 정서를 한시를 통해 다수 표출하고 있다. 임병양란에서 죽음을 맞이한 인물들에 대해서는 만시를 통해 그들을 기억할 수 있는 인물 형상을 구축하고자 하였고, 학적으로 교유한 인물들에 대해서는 인물의 특징적 국면을 중심으로 서로의 친교가 구축될 수 있는 기제를 서술하는 방식으로 관계를 시로 구현하였다.
현곡의 한시는 삶의 굴곡을 통해 배태된 정서가 노정된 양상이 두드러지는 편이다. 그렇다보니 정서적 표출에 있어 슬픔, 회한, 고독 등으로 연상되는 우울한 내면이 토로되고 있다. 물론 이에 대해서는 현곡 한시 전반에 걸친 연구를 통해 보다 면밀하게 추적할 필요가 있으나, 본고에서 대상으로 다룬 한시에서 상대적으로 두드러지게 나타나고 있는 게 확인된다.
본고는 현곡 한시에 대한 성향을 일별한 것에 지나지 않는다. 이는 현곡 한시에 대한 본격적인 연구가 시작될 필요가 있음을 지적하는 것이기도 하다. 그동안 <최척전>을 통해 작가 조위한으로 연결되는 편향된 연구에서 벗어나 문집을 중심으로 한문학사에서 그 위상을 면밀하게 논의할 필요가 있다. 이는 현곡집 의 번역이 큰 역할을 한 것으로, 본고는 한시를 중심으로 논의하였으나 추후 이를 바탕으로 산문으로 연구가 확장되어 심화될 수 있기를 기대한다.

영어초록

The present article is a survey of the Chinese poems in Hyun-gok-jip(玄谷集) . Hyun-gok was recognized in his time for his creation of Chinese poems, and he was in deep communication with Kwon Pil and Yi An-nul. However, despite his fame, little research has been done on Hyun-gok's Chinese poems, and this book focuses on them from a critical perspective. Hyun-gok's Chinese poems number about 450, of which Manshi and Chaunshi account for about half. This paper aims to analyze the emotional aspects of Hyun-gok's Chinese poems, focusing on Manshi and reminiscence poems, which contain mourning sentiments.
Hyun-gok's Chinese poems need to be examined closely in relation to his life. Hyun-gok lived to be 83 years old, but his actual life path was eventful. Hyun-gok's life passed through various domestic and international events such as the Imjin War, Injobanjeong, and Byeongja-Horan, and he experienced separation from his parents, siblings, and in-laws. The complex emotions triggered by these life events are expressed in the poems. In particular, the sentiment of regret is expressed in relation to the deaths of wives and children, and the relative emotions of siblings are characterized.
on the other hand, Hyun-gok expresses his feelings about his relationships with people in public and private life, such as officials and academic associates, in many Chinese poems. For those who died in the Imbyeongyangran, Hyun-gok sought to build a figure that could be remembered through Manshi, and for those with whom he interacted academically, he embodied their relationships in Chinese poems by describing the mechanisms by which mutual friendship could be built around their characteristic phases.
Hyun-gok's Chinese poems are characterized by the emotions that have been cultivated through the bends of life. As a result, the emotional expression of the poems is characterized by a melancholy interiority that is associated with sadness, regret, and loneliness. Of course, this needs to be tracked more closely through a study of Hyun-gok Chinese poetry as a whole, but it is confirmed that it is relatively prominent in the Chinese poems studied in this paper.
This paper is only an overview of the tendency toward Hyun-gok's Chinese poetry. It also points to the need for a full-scale study of Hyun-gok Chinese poetry to begin. In the meantime, it is necessary to move away from the biased research that connects the author Jo Wihan through <Choi-Cheok-jeon(崔陟傳)> and discuss its place in the history of Korean literature in detail, centering on the collection. This is largely due to the translation of the Hyun-gok-jip(玄谷集) , and although the present study centers on Chinese poems, it is hoped that the study can be expanded and deepened to include prose in the future.
