구약의 율법이 새 언약 시대에 살고 있는 신약교회 성도들에도 계속해서 지켜져야 하는 항구적인 규범인가? 이 논문은 마태복음 5-7장에 있는예수의 산상설교, 특별히 5:17-20에 나타나 있는 구약의 율법에 관한 예수의 교훈을 중심으로 구약의 율법이 신약교회 성도들에게 계속 타당성을지니고 있는가를 조사한다. 본문과 전후 문맥에 관한 철저한 해석학적 조사를 통하여, 이 논문은 예수 그리스도가 그의 인격과 삶을 통하여 구약의 율법을 철저하게 성취함으로써, 이를 새 언약과 그리스도의 법으로 새롭게 하여, 하나님의 나라 백성의 새로운 삶의 원리로 주셨기 때문에, 구약의 율법은 신약의 성도들에게 한편으로 불연속성을, 다른 한편으로 연속성을 지니고 있음을 주장한다.

영어초록

Jesus’ view of the Law (Torah) is crucial to the question whether the Law still remains valid for the Christian Church. Is the Mosaic Law still normative for Christians? Or have its requirements been abolished for those who now live under the New Covenant of grace and not the old Covenant of the Mosaic Law?This study aims to investigate Jesus’ teaching of the Law on the sermon on the Mount with a special reference to Matthew 5:17-20,which is the most important passage of the New Testament needed to understand Jesus’ view of the Law. Through a contextual and exegetical investigation of Matthew 5:17-20, the paper argues that Jesus has fulfilled the Law by perfectly bringing out and fulfilling its original intention and meaning through his whole life, i.e., his birth,baptism, temptation, preaching of the Kingdom of God, teaching,healing, suffering, death on the cross, and resurrection, so that he renews and transforms the Law into the New Covenant, the perfectly fulfilled law－the law of Christ, becoming the new commandment for the people of the Kingdom of God.
Since the Law has been renewed and transformed into the law of Christ, the paper further claims, the disciples of Jesus are required,not to ignore it but to obey it, so that they might bear witness to the righteousness of the Kingdom, by which they are also proven to be the salt and the light of the world as the blessed people of the Kingdom.
Hence, the paper concludes that Christians are called to obey the Law through the Holy Spirit by loving God the Father and their neighbors with their whole heart in this world, not because the Mosaic Law has permanent validity for Christians, but because it has been renewed and transformed into the law of Christ, which defines more fully the vital Christological, salvational, echatological and ethical dimensions to which must be given total and unadulterated allegiance for true salvation and freedom.
