Evangelism should mean both speaking the gospel and living it. As Howard A. Snyder puts it, it means "not just God-talk but also God-walk." Announcing/proclaiming and embodying/demonstrating the good news of the kingdom of God is the main topic of this article.
In chapter 2, the author discusses a new horizon of evangelism and the Holy Spirit. The literal meaning of 'evangelism,' based on Chinese characters(傳道, Jeondo), is "spreading the way." The Korean pronunciation of the Chinese character, Jeon means to "convey, spread, widely broadcast, be handed down, get broader, pass on, inform" and Do stands for "the way." The way is understood only in terms of Jesus Christ and the cross among Korean Christians. Based on his own Bible study, the author argues that the kingdom of God should be added in the category of the way in evangelism. The author also emphasizes the empowering Holy Spirit in evangelism, by using a homonym of Jeondo(傳導, conduction).
In chapter 3, the author introduces Snyder's four dimensions of evangelism: conversion evangelism (proclaiming and showing by our lives that Jesus Christ is Savior and Lord―the one who came into the world to save sinners), discipling evangelism (the church making disciples, not just converts or church members), justice evangelism (living out the righteousness and justice of God's reign within the church's social context―locally and globally), and culture evangelism (shaping the societies and cultures of the world through the truth of the kingdom of God). Together they form a holistic, comprehensive, and integral mission called Kingdom evangelism (the proclamation and living out of the reign of God as revealed in Jesus Christ).
In chapter 4, the author handles various dimensions of the kingdom of God including John Wesley's concept of the kingdom of God. In chapter 5, the author deals with an outward oriented witnessing community led by the Holy Spirit. Walbert Bühlmann and Snyder offer some good ideas for this chapter. The Holy Spirit gives us assurance, and with that assurance we are lead to envangelize. After emphasizing evangelism as childbirth given by heart, the author concludes this article by quoting Paul G. Hiebert. "The church is a community called by God to invite people to enter the Kingdom of God."
