초록

The purpose of this treatise is to find who the Two Witnesses in Revelation are(Rev. 11:1-13) and what they have done. The Two Witnesses symbolize the church. The church started with the renewed Temple in the Old Testament era. The church has authority to prophesy and power to do miracles, but the miracles done by the church have wrought a fight against the world. Therefore, the world persecutes the church. The world symbolizes Rome. Rome ruled its territory as an Empire with victory, peace, myth, salvation, and eternity. Empire refers to Rome as the only country on earth. Victory refers to conquest through troops. Peace refers to that gained through Rome's rulers and their puppets.
If the people of Rome submit to their ruling ideologies, they can have peace made available to them. Myth refers to justification for the formation of the Roman Empire, whereby people who belong to the Roman Empire should serve the Emperor as a god. Salvation refers to social welfare and food which are provided by the Emperor to those people who obey. Finally,eternity implies that the Roman Empire is eternal. These Roman values are values which the church cannot accept. These are reasons that the church was persecuted. In the situation of being persecuted, the church did not lose an attitude of prophecy. As a result, the church met with death at the hands of those troubled by the church's prophecy. Nevertheless, God has raised the church up and proved the church's prophecy to be true.
The message of the two witnesses in revelation is important to today's churches.
Churches are not controlled by the world's values but by God. Church is not a place for practicing the ruling ideology of the world which does not pray or receive the blessing. Church is the place where God's words are proclaimed.
Church is a place of sincerity for keeping the proclaimed words. Even though persecuted, the church should proclaim the message of God because church is the place where God's absolute values can be realized. The church will become the light and salt in the world when finishing this mission.
