한반도 남부지역 三燕系 마구 연구 (A Study on the Samyan Variant Harnesses of the Southern Region of the Korean Peninsula)

초록

이 연구의 시작은 김해 대성동 91호분에서 삼연 마구인 표비, 십금구, 반구형장식금구, 패제장식금구, 영부장식금구와 함께 약간의 차이를 가진 마구가 공존하는 점에 주목한 것이다.
한반도 남부지역의 재지 공인들은 삼연 마구의 속성을 변이시키며 새로운 형식의 마구를 제작하였다. 특히 인수 ⅡA1류는 이입과 동시에 재지 기술과의 결합으로 ⅡA2류 등 다양한 형태로 개량되었고, 김해에서는십금구와 패제장식금구의 기술이 결합된 패제십금구라는 독특한 장식 마구가 생산되었다. 4세기 말에는 가장 복잡한 공정인 함유의 변용을 다루면서 판비 전체로 재지화를 일궈 나간다. 또한 십금구와 반구형장식금구의 용문과 그 제작기법은 금동제 대장식구와 유기적인 관계가 있음을 확인하고, 당시 금공품 제작 기술이공유되는 제작 환경이 갖추어졌을 가능성을 제기하였다.
경로는 시기에 따라, 부여계 특징을 가진 ⅠA·ⅠD식 표비가 백제 권역에서 확인되고, 당시 낙랑과의 불안정한 교류망의 대체로 한반도 서남해안 연안항로를 이용한 백제의 교류망을 근거로 1단계는 백제로의 경로를 제시하였다. 2단계부터는 고구려가 서북한지역을 차지하고 남부지역과의 교류의 매개자 역할을 시작한시기에 주목하고, 고구려와 신라 일대에서 확인되는 용문투조대부식+수하식 과와 집안 칠성산 96호분, 경주쪽샘 L17호, 월성로 가-13호분 출토 마구 관계를 근거로 고구려-신라-가야로의 경로를 제시하였다.
한반도 남부지역에는 삼연産보다는 재지産인 삼연계 마구의 출토 비율이 높다. 이는 삼연産은 위신재라는명목하에 국가 간의 정치적 관계에서 소량 이입되었고, 삼연계 마구의 수가 많은 것은 공인의 이동과 재지에서의 발빠른 제작 수용의 이유로 해석하였다. 삼연 공인은 그들의 기술을 재지 공인에게 학습시키고, 재지 공인은 선택적 학습을 통한 반복적인 모방 과정을 통해 기술력을 향상시켰다. 4~5세기 동북아시아의 혼란했던정세에서 사람의 이동은 자연스러운 현상이었고, 그중 삼연계 마구의 제작 증폭에 영향을 끼친 것은 그러한이동에 있었던 제작 공인이었음을 상정하였다.

영어초록

This paper focuses on establishing which properties were altered when producing Samyan variants of horse harnesses and on identifying when, why, and along which routes they spread to the southern region of the Korean Peninsula.
Local craftspeople of the southern region of the Korean Peninsula altered the properties of the harnesses to produce new types. In the case of bits, Type IIA1 was introduced and then developed into diverse types, such as Type IIA2, through collaboration with local techniques. This was the case for not only bits but also plate bits, which involved the most complicated production process; through this process, the entirety of the plate bits were localized. For example, the cross-shaped ornament made of shellfish (which is the original ornamental harness of the Gimhae area) came to be produced based on the collaboration of the cross-shaped ornament and the ornament made of shellfish.
Samyan horse harnesses spread along two types of routes, based on the time period: 1) through Baekje or 2) through Goguryeo, Silla and Gaya. The former can be traced through the Type IA, ID bridle bits showing the characteristics of Buyeo harnesses, which have been found in the regions under Baekje’s influence, as well as included in Baekje’s network, which was an alternative to the unstable network with Nangnang, using the western and southern coastal routes of the Korean Peninsula. The latter is based on the fact that Goguryeo took control over the north-western region of Korean Peninsula and served as a mediator with the southern region. The relationships of harnesses between the Jin type metal belt found in the regions of Goguryeo and Silla and the harnesses of Jian, Gyeongju, and Gimhae also attest to the latter route.
In the southern region of the Korean Peninsula, locally produced Samyan variants tend to be found in greater number than harnesses produced in Samyan due to prestige. The existence of a variety of Samyan variants is caused by the movement of craftspeople and the fast acceptance by locals. Samyan craftspeople educated local craftspeople with their techniques, and the local groups not only accepted what they learned but also selectively copied by repetition, which led to the improvement of production techniques. The increase in harness production in the southern region can be traced back to the movement of craftspeople, which was a typical situation under the chaotic circumstances of North and East Asia in the fourth to fifth centuries.
