『천부경』의 ‘三’에 관한 선도적 고찰 (An Inquiry into ‘Sahm’(Three) in Chun Bu Kyung based on the traditional Korean thought called Sun Do)

초록

우리 고유의 사상에 관해 여러 문헌에는 ‘선(仙)’, ‘선인(仙人)’, ‘신선(神仙)’ 등으로 표현을 다르게 했지만 사상적ㆍ종교적ㆍ문화적인 면을 모두 포괄하고 있는 ‘선도(仙道)’라고 하는 것이 가장 바람직할 것이다. 그러므로 선도사상은 바로 우리민족의 고유사상으로서 한국사상의 원형이라 할 수 있는데, 그 핵심적 개념이 『천부경』에 담겨 있다. 특히 『천부경』의 ‘三’은 우주와 인간의 근본을 깨우치는 선도의 핵심 사상을 담고 있다.
『천부경』의 ‘三’은 『천부경』의 문장 흐름 상 바로 ‘天･地･人’을 뜻한다고 볼 수 있다. 여기서 ‘天’은 만물의 성품(性品)을 통하게 하는 원리를 뜻한다고 할 수 있고, ‘地’는 만물의 생명(生命)을 알게 하는 본체라 할 수 있으며, ‘人’은 만물의 정기(精氣)를 보전하는 주체를 말한다고 볼 수 있다.
『천부경』의 ‘三’에는 ‘천･지･인’으로 상징되는 세 가지 요소들이 서로 유기적으로 조화를 이루어 다양한 역할들을 함으로서 모든 만물을 생성하고 구성하며 변화를 이끌어 낸다는 삼재론 또는 삼원론의 논리를 담고 있다. 이원론은 상호 대립적이고 경쟁적이 될 수밖에 없는데 비해, 삼원론은 대립과 갈등을 극복하는 조화와 화합의 원리를 내포하고 있다.
그리고 ‘천･인･지’의 삼재 또는 삼원이 인체의 상중하의 삼단전(三丹田)에 작용하여 기운을 조절함으로써 건강과 균형을 유지함을 나타내고 있다. 또한 『천부경』의 ‘천ㆍ지ㆍ인’이 『삼일신고』에서는 ‘性ㆍ命ㆍ精’의 삼진(三眞)으로 나타난다고 말하면서, ‘止感ㆍ調息ㆍ禁觸’이라는 삼수행법을 통하여 선도수행의 최고경지인 ‘性通功完’에 이른다고 말하고 있다.
또한 『삼국유사』의 <고조선편>에 나오는 단군사화(壇君史話) 속에도 하늘을 대표하는 환웅과 땅을 대표하는 웅녀, 그리고 사람인 단군왕검 등의 ‘천ㆍ지ㆍ인’ 사상이 담겨 있다. 특히 웅녀(熊女)의 三ㆍ七일 간의 동굴 수행은 ‘지감ㆍ조식ㆍ금촉’의 삼수행법을 통하여 선도에서 말하는 ‘천인합일(天人合一)’, 또는 ‘신인합일(神人合一)’의 경지에 도달하였다는 것을 짐작할 수 있다.
『천부경』의 삼원론에 비해, 중국의 도교에서도 ‘천･지･인’ 등 삼원 사상이 있었으나 구체적인 내용에 있어서는 음양 중심의 이원론이라 할 수 있다. 또한 『천부경』과 『삼일신고』의 삼수행법에 비해, 중국 도교에서는 인간의 구조를 ‘정･기･신’의 삼분법으로 보고 있으나 수행에 있어서는 신과 정을 중시하는 성명쌍수의 이원론이라고 볼 수 있다.

영어초록

In a numerous records, traditional Korean thought is named in many different words such as ‘sun’, ‘Sun In’, ‘Shin Sun’. However, it is most desirable to call the traditional Korean thought ‘Sun Do’, because this contains ideological, religious, and cultural aspects. The thought of Sun Do is the original form of traditional Korean philosophy and belief, and the essential thought of Sun Do lays in Chun Bu Kyung. Especially, ‘Sahm’(Three) in Chun Bu Kyung conveys the core of Sun Do thought which awakes people to the fundamental principles of the universe and humanities.
It’s believed that ‘Sahm’(Three) in Chun Bu Kyung means ‘Chun’(Heaven), ‘Ji’(Earth), ‘In’(Humans) according to the interpretation of Chun Bu Kyung. ‘Chun’ is the principle enlightenment that all things are related and connected. ‘Ji’ is the primary objective of life of all things, and ‘In’ is the subject who maintains sprit and energy.
‘Sahm’(Three) in Chun Bu Kyung has the logic of three major elements. ‘Sahm’(Three) in Chun Bu Kyung are the three elements symbolized as ‘Chun-Ji–In’. These three elements are interconnected and work together harmoniously resulting in all created things with unique constitutions and evolving continuously.
While dualism is associated with antagonistic and competition of opposing forces in everything, the theory of three major elements is the theory of harmony and cooperation overcoming all conflicts and confrontations.
These three elements, ‘Chun-In-Ji’, make it possible to stay healthy and balanced, as they act on three major chakras (the second, the fourth, and the sixth) in a human body and control the ki energy in the body. The 'Chun-Ji-In' in Chun Bu Kyung are represented as ‘Sam Jin’ -Three true things given from the Universe when born- 'Sung', ‘Myung’, and 'Jung' in Sam Il Shin Go, which is another kind of traditional Korean sacred script. Sam Il Shin Go teaches that the meditation training of ‘Ji Gam’(to stop emotions andmind), ‘Cho Sik’(to control breathing), and 'Keum Chok'(to refrain from desires) leads to ‘Sung Tong Gong Wan’, the individual enlightenment and the enlightenment of the mass in the whole world and this is the highest state of enlightenment in Sun Do Meditation.
The thought of ‘Chun-Ji-In’ is shown in the Historical Story of Dan Goon in the chapter of GoChosun Dynasty in Sam Gook Yoo Sa . In the story, Hwan Woong is symbolized as ‘Chun’, Woong Nyeo as ‘Ji’, and Dan Goon as ‘In’. Furthermore, it’s easily assumed that through the 27-day meditation of ‘Ji Gam’, ‘Cho Sik’ and ‘Keum Chok’ in a cave, Woong Nyeo reached the highest state of enlightenment called ‘Chun In Hap Il’ or ‘Shin In Hap Il’, which means the Heaven and the human become one.
On the other hand, the theory of three major elements in Chinese Taoism is more like dualism because it is dominated by ‘Yin’ and ‘Yang’, compared to that of Chun Bu Kyung. Also, Chinese Taoism has a ‘Jung’ , ‘Ki’, ‘Shin’ theory for the human structure. However, in meditation training, ‘Shin’ and ‘Jung’ are more focused and this means the theory of three major elements in Chinese Taoism is considered dualism which is polarized by ‘Sung’ and ‘Myung’.
