고전대하소설과의 연계성을 통해 본 TV드라마의 서사 전략과 주제- 겹사돈 구성을 지닌 <며느리전성시대>와 <황금신부>를 중심으로- (TV Drama's Narrative Strategy and Theme Being Connected with Korean Old Saga Novel)

초록

TV드라마 <며느리전성시대>와 <황금신부>는 <부장양문열효록>, <창란호연록>, <유이양문록> 등 고전대하소설이 지니는 겹사돈 구성을 계승한다. 그런데 고전대하소설에서는 겹사돈 맺는 것을 긍정적으로 받아들였지만, TV드라마에서는 부정적으로 인식한다는 차이점이 있다.
TV드라마에서는 고전대하소설의 겹사돈 구성을 계승하되, 이전의 고전대하소설과는 달리 겹사돈을 ‘금기―금기 위반’에 기대는 것을 새로운 서사 전략으로 선택함으로써, 당사자들의 심리 갈등의 편폭을 넓히고, 인물 간의 다양한 갈등을 유도해 내며, 작품에 긴장감 을 불어 넣는다. 그리고 고전대하소설에서 겹사돈 구성을 바탕으로 다양한 커플을 조합하는 서사 전략을 택하는 것과 같이 TV드라마에서도 그런 서사 전략을 택하는데, 이는 겹사돈 구성이 다양한 커플을 조합하는 서사 방식으로 여전히 유효하기 때문으로 보인다.
한편 고전대하소설에서 겹사돈 구성을 바탕으로 다양한 커플을 조합하는 서사 전략을 선택함으로써 궁극적으로는 ‘가문의 창달’이라는 큰 주제를 담아냈다면, 그와는 달리 TV드라마에서는 ‘가족간의 사랑 회복’이라는 주제를 담아낸다. 이는 가정의 위기가 팽배한 현대 사회에서 의미 있는 주제라 평가할 수 있다. 그리고 ‘가족간의 사랑 회복’은 각 드라마에 따라 개별 주제로 세분화되는데, <며느리전성시대>가 ‘경제적 조건보다는 순수한 사랑’을 지향한다면, <황금신부>는 그 주제에서 한 단계 더 나아가 베트남 혼혈 여성에 대한 편견, 나아가 동아시아 여성에 대한 편견을 극복함으로써, 다문화 사회를 맞이하여 휴머니티를 동아시아로 확대하는 비전을 보여준다.
이제는 겹사돈 구성이 고전대하소설과 TV드라마를 관통하는 서사전개의 틀이자, 장편화의 틀이며, 우리 문화의 저변에 깔려 있는 서사 방식의 하나라고 말할 수 있다. <며느리전성시대>와 <황금신부>는 고전대하소설을 계승하되, 현대 사회에 맞게 흥미를 고취하고 주제를 창출해낸 성공작이라 평가할 만하다.

영어초록

Korean tv dramas such as myenlijensengsidaea and gold sinbu have generally the structure of double relation by marriage in other words, the structure of two fold marriage. The korean saga novels, long novels of korean old works, for instance, Pujangyangmumyelhyolok, Changnanhoyeonlok, Yuiyangmunlok have such structure.
Two fold marriage was accepted positively in Korean saga novels, on the other hand improperly in Korean tv dramas. Two fold marriage was considered as taboo In Korean tv dramas. With such narrative strategy character's psychological conflicts were handled in tense atmosphere
The various combinations of many couples are evolved on the base of the structure of double relation by marriage ln Korean tv drama such as myenlijensengsidaea and gold sinbu. In myenlijensengsidaea three couples in first generation and two couples in second generation showed the conflicts between man and wife, and so between a woman and woman ’s mother-in-law variously. In gold sinbu one couple in first generation and four couples in second generation showed various stories. These various couples' stories were seen in Korean saga novels.
Finally those narrative strategy tended toward theme such as the progress of a good stock family in Korean tv dramas, and tended toward the recovery and restoration between the members of a family in Korean tv dramas. In other words, two tv dramas' theme is the recovery and restoration between the members of a family. And this theme is subdivide into the individual two works. The theme is subdivided and itemized into the pure and genuine love rather than economical and frugal condition in myenlijensengsidaea. Going a step farther from that point, the theme is subdivided and itemized into overcoming a prejudice against a person of mixed Korean and Vietnamese parentage, overcoming a prejudice against East Asian woman, and the subdivided theme heads toward humanity of East Asia.
In short, there is similarity between korean saga novel and tv drama. The structure of double relation by marriage and of developing various couples' stories is penetrated between Korean tv drama and korean saga novels. This structure of double relation by marriage is one fundamental and basic structure of many structures in korean narrative, korean culture. The two tv dramas such as myenlijensengsidaea and gold sinbu that were succeeded from the korean saga novels in the point of the structure of double relation by marriage are rated as the high and successful dramas that stired up interest and created themes.
