『河窩日錄(1796∼1802)』을 통해 본 豊山柳氏 謙巖派의 관계망 (Networks of the Group of Gyeomam of the Pungsan Ryu Family Seen through Hawailrok(1796∼1802))

초록

본고는 『하와일록』을 통해 19세기 전후 풍산류씨 겸암파의 관계망의 혈연적·지역적 범위와 관계망의 대응 방식에 대해 살펴보았으며, 다음의 사실을 밝혔다. 첫째, 류일춘 3대의 관계망의 혈연적 범위이다. 하회의 일족 및 혼인으로 맺어진 풍산의 순천김씨·안동권씨·풍산김씨·전의이씨, 의성의 광산김씨·진주강씨, 예천의 함양박씨·여강이씨 등과 가장 친밀한 관계망을 형성했다. 이 밖에 교유한 성씨들도 대부분 퇴계학맥에 속하며, 서애계의 비중이 상대적으로 높다. 이들의 거주지는 안동의 서부지역을 중심으로 영남의 남서부로 연결된다.
둘째, 교유 공간의 성격이다. 류일춘 3대의 관계망 형성 공간은 집, 서원·精舍, 그리고 마을이다. 집은 개방적인 공간이고, 서원·정사는 집에 비해 좀 더 배타적이고 공식적인 공간이며, 교유 범위도 상대적으로 좁았다. 마을은 상하신분이 함께 어울리는 심리적인 완충 공간이자 마을 공동체를 유지하는 열린 공간이었다.
셋째, 정치 사회적인 대응 방식이다. 순조 즉위 이후 안동 지역에서는 京南[경기 남인] 인사의 추존 금지, 신흥노론과 庶族이 득세하는 등 사족의 위상이 매우 흔들렸다. 이러한 상황에서 류일춘은 소극적인 대응으로 일관했는데, 이는 비타협적인 대응을 통한 지리멸렬보다는 훗날을 도모하고자 했던 인간적인 고뇌와 선택의 결과로 이해했다. 1810년대 이후 풍산류씨가 채제공의 명예회복에 앞장설 수 있었던 것은 소극적인 현실 대응 속에서 관계망을 유지했기 때문에 가능했을 것이다.
넷째, 새로운 관계망에 대한 도전이다. 19세기 전후 안동지역 사족의 혼인은 기존에 형성한 관계망을 더욱 강화하는 의미가 강하다면, 科宦은 새로운 관계망을 형성할 수 있는 기회를 제공해 준다. 풍산류씨 겸암파는 총명한 류의목의 과거 합격을 통해 새로운 관계망을 형성하려고 했으나 그가 과거에 실패하면서 그 기회를 얻지 못했다.
일기의 작성 시기가 길지 않아 관계망의 흐름을 시계열적으로 살펴보지 못한 아쉬움이 있었다. 그러나 안동 지역 사족의 일상과 더불어 영남 남인을 지원하던 정조가 죽고 순조가 즉위하면서 정국이 급변함과 동시에 격랑에 휩싸인 향촌사회의 복잡다단한 모습과 여기에 대응하는 사족의 생생한 모습을 자세하게 확인할 수 있었다.

영어초록

In this paper, relational networks’ranges and response methods of the group of Gyeomam of the Pungsan Ryu family were examined through Hawailrok. Hence, the next truths were disclosed. First, there are blood ranges of networks of the third generation of Ryu Il-chun. These formed intimate networks with the whole family of Hahoe and other families linked with marriage, such as the Suncheon Kim family, Andong Kim family, Pungsan Kim family, and Jeonui Yi family of Pungsan, Gwangsan Kim family and Jinju Kang family of Uiseong, and Hamyang Park family and Yeogang Yi family of Yecheon. Besides, people with other family names who had good relations with the group of Gyeomam mostly belong to academic lines of Toegye Yi Hwang. Above all, a portion of the family line of Seoae Ryu Seong-ryong is relatively high. Their residences are linked with southwest areas focused on the west area of Andong. Second, there are characteristics of sociable spaces. The spaces of forming networks of the third generation of Ryu Il-chun are houses, lecture halls for Confucius, gazebos, and villages. Houses are open spaces. However, lecture halls for Confucius and gazebos are more exclusive and official spaces than houses. So, intimate social ranges were relatively narrow. Villages were psychological buffer zones where high class and low class people got along well together and open spaces to maintain communities. Third, there are political and social response methods.
After King Sunjo came to the throne, status of highborn families diminished highly due to preventing Southerners (a political faction) in Gyeonggi province from being honored and gaining power of new Noron faction and descendants of concubines. In these situations, Ryu Il-chun maintained passive response. But, the result can be understood caused from his humane agony and choice of planning something for the future rather than self-destruction via uncompromising response. The reason why the Pungsan Ryu family took the lead in regaining the impaired reputation of Chae Je-gong might be that RyuIl-chun kept good networks even in his passive response to the reality. Fourth, there is challenge for new networks. If marriage of noble families in the Andong region around the 19th century has meaning in strengthening already formed networks more, passing the state examination for a government official provides an opportunity to form new networks. The group of Gyeomam of the Pungsan Ryu family tried to make new networks through the exam pass of smart Ryu Ui-mok. However, as he failed, the chance was lost. There is some regret about not searching for flows of networks time serially because the period of writing diaries was not long. Nonetheless, along with daily life of noble people in the Andong region, as King Sunjo ascended the throne after King Jeongjo passed away who supported Southerners of Yeongnam (Gyeongsang areas), political situations changed suddenly, therefore, complicated looks of local societies in turbulent times and vivid looks of aristocrats who coped with the situations could be minutely confirmed, simultaneously.
