『겐지 모노가타리』(源氏物語)와 헤이안 경(平安京)이라는 서사 공간 (『Genjimonogatari』and Heian-kyo as Narrative Space)

초록

本稿は『源氏物語』における「叙事空間」に注目し、「叙事対象空間」で ある「平安京」が「叙事形象空間」である「京」または「都」にどのように 構築されているのかを考察した論である。 考察の結果、実際·現実空間である「叙事対象空間」としての「平安京」が そのまま再現されず「叙事形象空間」である「京」または「都」として形象 化するには、空間を「模糊」化する叙事技法が効果的に用いられていること が確認できた。そして模糊とした「叙事形象空間」を構築するには、登場人物たちの叙事空間である地名を具体的に記述せず「なにがし」や「わたり」 といった表現を地名につけて表す方法が一役を買っていると思われる。この ように明確ではなく模糊とした空間を設定する叙事技法は読み手の想像力を 刺激し作品の世界に主体的に参加させるためであると思われる。代表的な古 典テキストにおける「なにがし」または「わたり」の用例と比べてみた際、 地名に「なにがし」または「わたり」をつけて模糊とした「叙事形象空間」 を創り出す技法は、虚構性を根幹とする物語文学、中でも『源氏物語』に主 に用いられる表現技法の一つであると思われる。 なお、「京」または「都」内における光源氏の行動範囲に注目したとき、 考慮すべき特徴が一つある。それは光源氏が女性と新しい恋を展開させてい くとき「内裏より」出発することによって、「内裏」が光源氏と女の物語の 出発点、起点になっているということである。要するに『源氏物語』に形象 化された「京」または「都」は光源氏の恋に限って見た際、内裏を原点とし て進んでいく放射状の構図を成していると思われる。 要するに、『源氏物語』における「京」または「都」という叙事空間は虚 構性に基づいた物語文学の表現技法の一つとして形象化されたものであり、 模糊とした叙事空間の中で読み手の想像力を刺激し当代の読者たちが作品に 集中し鑑賞できるように構築された仮想の都市文学空間と言えよう。

영어초록

This paper is to examine how 'Kyo' or 'Miyako', the 'narrative formation spaces' that are different from 'narrative subject space' such as 'Heian-kyo,' are constructed focusing on 'narrative space' in 『Genjimonogatari』.
As a result, it was verified that a narrative technique to 'vaguely' structure spaces is used effectively in structuring 'Kyo' or 'Miyako,' the narrative formation spaces, instead of re-creating 'Heian-Kyo,' the actual spaces and 'narrative subject spaces,' as it is. Furthermore, it is considered that expressions such as 'Nagigashi(a certain)' or 'Watari(nearby)' instead of specifically expressing names of narrative spaces for characters also add to the vagueness of 'narrative formation spaces.' Thus, the narrative technique to establish vague and unspecific spaces is thought to be used to actively involve readers by stimulating their imaginations. Moreover in comparison to the use of 'Nanigashi' or 'Watari' in other classical Japanese texts, the technique to create 'narrative formation spaces' by adding 'Nanigashi' or 'Watari' to names of places is considered to be one of the expressive techniques used importantly in Monogatari Literature based on fabrications-『Genjimonogatari』 in particular. Also, there is a distinctive characteristic in Hikarugenji's areas of activities within 'Kyo' or 'Miyako.' which is that Hikarugenji always departs from the 'palace' to go to a house of a woman located in 'Kyo' or 'Miyako' in development of a love story with a new woman. Thus, the 'palace' is always the departing point/starting point of stories between Hikarugenji and women. Therefore, the 'Kyo' or 'Miyako' in 『Genjimonogatari』, concentrating on the love stories of Hikarugenji, is forming a structure that spreads out from the palace as the starting point.
To conclude, spaces called 'Kyo' or 'Miyako' in 『Genjimonogatari』 can be considered as spaces suitable for fictional character called Hikarugenji and a major expressive technique in Monogatari based on fabrications. It is a fictional urban space constructed in order for readers at the time to concentrate and appreciate the Monogatari by stimulating their imaginations.
