潛隱 姜恰의 저술로 본 그의 삶과 교류 인맥의 특징 (Characteristics of KangHeup姜恰 (pen name: Jameun潛隱)'s life and his personal network shown on his books)

초록

본고는 潛隱 姜恰(1602~1671)의 삶과 교류 인맥의 특징을 살핀 것이다. 강흡은 본래 한양파주 출신이었으나 병자호란 직후 가족을 이끌고 봉화 법전으로 피난하여 정착함으로써 이 지역에 진주강씨의 뿌리를 내린 인물이다. 이후 법전의 진주강씨 문중은 영남지역에서는 드물게 노소론계를 표방하며 그 역사를 지탱해왔다. 강흡의 삶의 이력과 그가 교류한 인물들을 주목하는 이유는 법전의 진주강씨 후손들이 표방했던 가학의 전통이 어디에서 근본하는지 그 기저를 탐색해보기 위함이다. 현전하는 강흡의 저술은 문중에서 보관해 온 필사본 『이오당선조유고』와 1912년에 간행한 목활자본 『잠은선생실기』 그리고 1969년에 간행한 석인본 『잠은선생실기』가 있다. 1969년 석인본은 목활자본 내용과 크게 다르지 않다. 필사본 유고와 목활자본 실기 두 본을 비교 검토하여 도출한 결론은 다음과 같다.
먼저 필사본 『이오당선조유고』를 저본으로 삼아 수정 가감하고 취사선택해서 간행한 것이 목활자본 『잠은선생실기』라는 점이다. 편집은 대략 1900년대 초반에 이루어진 것으로 판단되는데, 당시 편집 간행 과정에서 이루어진 취사선택의 사례를 살펴보면 이 시기 후손들도 노소론계를 표방하였음을 알 수 있었다. 강흡의 先代는 일찍부터 파주에 근거지가 있었고 강흡의 조부 강덕서는 이이와 교분이 두터웠다. 이 당시 대를 거듭해 관직에 나아가 서울 경기 지역의 명문가와 혼맥을 형성하면서 강흡의 가문은 자연스럽게 서인의 범위 안에 들어가게 되었다. 이러한 배경 위에서 강흡은 김장생을 사사하고 그의 문하 제자들과 친밀하게 지냈으며, 성균관에 들어가서는 유생들과 함께 우율종사 청원 상소를 주도하기도 하였다. 강흡의 출신과 가문의 입지, 사승 관계 및 교유 인물 등 여러 가지 배경 요소들을 검토하면서 이를 기반으로 강흡의 삶과 교류 인맥을 봉화 법전 정착 이전과 이후로 살펴보았다. 결론적으로 말한다면 봉화 법전에 정착한 이후 강흡은 이 지역에 문중의 뿌리를 굳건히 내리기 위해 지역 명문 사족과의 혼사 등 다방면으로 힘을 쏟았지만 교류 인맥 범위가 확연하게 달라지지는 않았다. 특히 비슷한 시기에 봉화에 정착했던 태백오현과 활발하게 교류하면서 그 교류 인맥은 법전 정착 이전과 비슷한 범위를 유지하였다. 결국 이러한 인맥이 아들 조카 손자들의 사제 관계까지 영향을 미칠 수밖에 없었으며, 이것이 배경이 되어 법전의 진주강씨 문중은 영남 지역에서 드물게 노,소론계를 표방해 왔던 것이다.

영어초록

This study is designed to find out the characteristics of Kang Heup (pen name: Jameun)'s life and his personal network. Although Kang Heup was born in Hanyang-Paju area, he took his family to Bonghwa Beopjeong after Qing Invasion of Joseon and took root in the region as the origin of Jinju Kang family. Then, Jinju Kang's family located in Beopjeon took the ideology of Noron faction and Soron faction, which was rare in Yeongnam area at that time. The reason why this study focused on Kang Heup's life and his personal network is to find out why the descendants of Jinju Kang family located in Beopejon took that ideology for their family study. The books authored by Kang Heup, which have been passed down to the current period, include the manually scribed book "Iodangseojoyugo", the carved wood plate printed book　('Mokpanbon') "Jameunseonsaengsilgi" published in 1912 and the carved stone plate printed book ('Seokinbon') "Jameunseonsaengsilgi" published in 1969. The Seokinbon published in 1969 was not much different from the Mokpanbon. The manually scribed transcript was compared with the Mokpanbon to get the following conclusions.
First of all, the Mokpanbon "Jameunseonsaengsilgi" was created by adding or deducting some contents to and from manually scribed book "Iodangseojoyugo". The editing seems to have been made in early 1900s and the style of addition or deduction of contents in the editing process shows that his descendants took the ideology of Noron faction and Soron faction in that period. Kang Heup's ancestors had taken root in Paju from early days and Kang Deok-Seo, or his grandfather had have a good relation with the great scholar Yi I. At that time, their family members had taken high government positions in Seoul and married to people from the reputed family located in Seoul and Gyeonggi area, thus resulting in naturally becoming the faction of Seoin. On this backdrop, Kang Heup became a teacher for Kim Jang-Seng and got good relation with his students. When in Seonggyungwan, he even submit a plead for the Uyuljongsa in cooperation with other Confucian scholars. This study have researched Kang Heup's life and his personal network for the period before and after his moving to Bonghwa Beopjeon while checking many of his background elements such as the origin of Kang Heup, his family's position, and his relation with monks and his friends as well as other background. In conclusion, even though after moving to Bonghwa Beopjeon, he had made a lot of efforts in order to take firm roots in the area such as marrying his family members to the members of other reputed aristocratic families in the area, the scope of his personal network did not much vary. Especially, while making active exchanges with Taebaekohyeon who took root in Bonghwa area in the same period, his personal network kept the scope similar to that which had been before moving to Beopjeon. This personal network had affected even his sons, nephew and grandson's relation. On that backdrop, his Jinju Kang family located in Beopejon had expressed the ideology of Noron and Soron factions in Yeongnam area, which was rare in the period.
