"사랑호흡"을 통한 부부 영적 친밀감 증진 (A Study on "Love-Repiration" for Enhancing Spiritual Intimacy in Marital Relation)

초록

부부 영적 친밀감은 신앙인 부부가 영적 발달과정에서 추구해야 할 가장 중요한 과업 중 하나라고 할 수 있음에도 불구하고, 교회는 부부 영적 친밀감 증진이라는 주제에 큰 관심을 기울여오지 못했고 결혼한 회중을 위한 효율적인 교육훈련 프로그램을 제공하지 못했다고 할 수 있다. 하나님의 계획 안에서 부부관계는 결혼한 성인들이 영적 친밀감과 영적 성장을 이룰 수 있는 훌륭한 환경으로 간주될 수 있다. 하지만, 많은 신앙인 커플들은 성숙한 신앙인이 되어가는 과정에서 자신의 성장과 발달을 위해 필요한 영적 친밀감 증진을 주된 신앙훈련 과제로 여기지 않는 듯하다. 신앙인 커플들은 의도치 않게 영적 친밀감을 소홀히 여겨왔고, 부부 영적 친밀감 형성을 추상적이고 이상적인 것으로 인식해왔다. 그러면서, 부부의 정서적, 육체적 친밀감 형성에 더 관심을 기울였다고 할 수 있다.
필자는 이러한 부부 목회돌봄의 상황 속에서 기존의 영적 친밀감으로서의 사랑경험을 재고찰하고 재해석하여 새로운 방향과 실천적 지침을 제시하기 위해 부부 영적 친밀감에 대해 목회신학적으로 성찰할 것이다. 이를 위해 테오도어 러년(Theodore Runyon)의 영적 호흡에 대한 재해석과 폴 스티븐스(Paul Stevens)의 부부의 영적 관계 이해를 주된 문헌으로 사용할 것이다. 영적 친밀감에 대한 목회신학적 성찰을 통해 부부 영적 친밀감의 의미와 필요성, 궁극적인 목표, 영적 친밀감 증진을 위한 실천에 대해 논의할 것이다. 끝으로 구체적이고 실천적인 부부 영적 친밀감 증진을 위한 영적 훈련으로 ‘사랑 발견하기’와 ‘사랑 호흡’을 제안하고자 한다. 이러한 영적 훈련과 영적 동반의 경험 속에서 부부 영적 친밀감이 증진되고 부부의 개인적인 관계가 하나님과의 관계로 발전되며 부부는 더 온전한 친밀감을 이루어갈 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

Although spiritual intimacy in a marital relationship is supposed to be one of the most significant tasks to be sought, the church has neither paid full attention to enhancing it nor offered effective education in spiritual intimacy to married couples. A marital relationship in God’s plan is an excellent tool for the married couple in which spiritual intimacy and spiritual growth can be achieved. However, many Christian couples have unintentionally ignored their spiritual intimacy, considering it as an abstract ideal while paying more attention to emotional and physical intimacy, which seems relatively realistic and attainable. Not only the church but also theorists and practitioners of pastoral counseling need to reflect on their own attitudes toward spiritual intimacy in marital relationships and should be able to develop and offer helpful spiritual education programs for marital and premarital couples.
In this article I will focus on seeking the meaning, necessity, and ultimate goal of spiritual intimacy in marriage. Using pastoral theology, I will illuminate couples’ spiritual intimacy in order to offer a new direction in designing spiritual education programs for spiritual intimacy. First, I will argue that the previous theoretical way of understanding can be more concrete and practical. In order to activate spiritual respiration at the practical level, first, we need to call it love respiration, which is attainable. Second, in order to activate it, the attitude of being powerless and hopeless as Christian couples in enhancing spiritual intimacy needs to be changed into being willing and positive. Third, spiritual companionship in marital relations can be helpful in enhancing spiritual intimacy through exercises of spiritual discernment and reflection. Last, imaging God is the ultimate goal of spiritual intimacy, and it will take place more actively in the triadic relationship of husband, wife, and God. In imaging God, the couple can understand themselves more clearly and continue to understand God more clearly.
