『艮齋私稿』의 書簡 수록 양상 고찰 (A Study on the Characteristics of Letters in the collection of Jinju-bon Ganjaejip)

초록

전우가 사망한 후 그의 제자들은 반목하였다. 몇 개의 파로 갈라져 본인들만이 전우의 학통을 잇는 유일한 제자임을 증명하기 위해 스승 전우의 문집을 앞다투어 출판하였는데, 『간재사고』, 『간재선생문집』그리고 『전우전집』이 그것이다. 이 3종은 서간문을 제외하고는 대부분 구성과 형식, 내용이 일치한다. 따라서 서간문은 전우의 서간을 대하는 제자들의 편찬 방침과 무관하지 않음을 보여준다.
본고는 전우 문집 3종 중 진주에서 간행된 『간재사고』에 수록된 서간문의 특징을 살펴보았다. 우선 『간재사고』수록 서간문은 다른 2종과는 달리 서간의 제목이 다르거나, 수신·발신자의 이름이 달라진 경우, 수·발신 연도에 차이가 있는 경우, 글자의 출입이나 내용이 축소 확대된 경우 등이 다수 발견된다. 이 또한 편찬 의도에 기인한 것으로 파악된다. 인명이나 수발신 날짜에 관한 것은 추후 더 면밀한 검토를 통해 편찬자의 의도를 파악할 필요가 있다. 아마도 『간재사고』편찬자는 나라의 시운에 관계된 내용을 비롯해 일제를 비판하고 폄하하는 표현이나 조선의 멸망에 관한 내용들을 고의로 누락하거나 삭제하여 일제의 검열을 피하려는 의도 때문이었을 것으로 추측할 수 있다.
결과적으로 보면 『간재사고』는 『간재선생문집』과 『전우전집』과는 다르게 수신자를 표기하는 방법이 다르고, 결자로 처리한 부분과 기존의 내용을 수정한 부분이 존재한다. 이는 『간재사고』를 간행하면서 편찬자의 의도가 반영된 것이라 할 수 있다.
이처럼 다른 2종과의 수록 양상의 차이는 결국 편찬자의 편찬 의도와 목적, 배경에 의해 편집되었음을 의미한다. 따라서 편찬자의 의식 반영은 두 가지 측면을 고려할 필요가 있다. 첫째, 편찬자가 왜 그러한 의식과 행위를 했는지 파악해서 편찬 시대와 편찬자의 상황을 고려해야 한다. 둘째, 편찬자에 의해 편집된 지식이나 내용이 대상 인물을 미화하거나 퇴색시키거나 혹은 왜곡할 수 있다는 점을 고려해야 한다. 이러한 이유로 한 인물의 실상은 그와 관련된 다양한 기록물을 통한 “정본화”를 통해서만 가능하다. 곧 “정본화”의 중요성이라고 할 수 있다.

영어초록

After Jeonwoo's death, his disciples rebelled. In order to prove that they are the only students who connect the academic background of Jeonwoo, the disciples of Jeonwoo, who are divided into several factions, compete and publish the collection of writings of their teacher. It is 『Ganjaesago』, 『Ganjaeseonsangmoonjip』, 『Jeonwoojeonjip』. If you look at the works included in these three types, most of the compositions, forms, and contents are consistent except for the letters. The difference in the contents of the letter is not irrelevant to the compilation policy of his disciples dealing with the letter.
This paper examined the external characteristics of the book contained in 『Ganjaesago』published in Jinju among the three literary works of 『Ganjaesago』. First of all, it is found that the contents of individual letters have been reduced unlike the other two types of letters in 『Ganjaesago』. In addition, it can be found that the title of the letter is different, the names of the recipient and the sender are different, there is a difference in the year of receipt and sending, or the entry or content of the letter is reduced and enlarged. This is also believed to be due to the intention of compilation. Regarding the person's name, reception, and sending date, it is necessary to understand the intention of the compilator through a closer review later. In terms of content alone, however, it can be assumed that the publisher of this book was intended to avoid Japanese censorship by intentionally omitting or deleting expressions that criticize and denigrate Japan and the destruction of Joseon, including those related to the fate of the country.
In the end, the difference from these two other types of Ganjae literature shows a comrade edited by the compilation intention, purpose, and background of the compilation. The reflection of the editor's consciousness has the significance of research in two aspects. One is the study of the editor's attitude, which is to understand the time and the editor by understanding why the editor performed such rituals and actions. Another is to recognize that the knowledge or content edited by the editor has the potential to glorify, fade, or distort the target person. For this reason, the reality of a character is only possible through "originalization" through various related records. It is the importance of informatization.
Through 『Ganjaesago』, it was confirmed that 『Ganjaejip』was intended by the publisher of this book.
