nterviewer: So, Marc, how long have you been in North America North America : 북 아메리카 대륙, 북미

Marc: Nine and a half year. First, I went to the U.S. to go to school. Hmm. When I graduated, I got a teaching job for a while and then I came to Canada to continue my education. I’m finishing my doctorate doctorate : 박사학위
right now, and then I will go home.

Interviewer: How do you feel about being away from your country for so long?

Marc: It’s very difficult. I go back and forth go back and forth : 오락가락하다, 왔다 갔다 하다
, but it’s expensive. I make a lot of phone calls. Thank God for e-mail!

Interviewer: What particular differences do you notice about North American culture from your own?

Marc: I suppose I notice how individualistic individualistic : 개인주의적인

. When my mom came to visit, she said the same thing. She said, “I can’t believe you don’t know who your neighbour is.” Than would never happen at home. Never!

Interviewer: Anything else?

Marc: People here don’t seem to be too concerned with anything else outside their country. Just a lack of interest in global awareness, even with the Internet. It bothers me.
