    2. 대학원 면접전 알아야 할 기본정보
    가. KAIST의 기본정보
    Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology
    과학 인재 양성과 국가 정책으로 추진하는 과학기술연구 수행을 위해 설립된 대한민국의 국립 특수대학원. 본원은 대전광역시 대덕연구개발특구 내 유성구에 있다. 영어 약칭은 KAIST이며, 2008년부터는 공식명칭이 'KAIST'로 통일되었다. 그러나 법인명은 여전히 한국과학기술원,. 보통의 국립대학교와 달리 대덕연구개발특구의 정부출연연구기관들과 마찬가지로 애초부터 별도의 법인으로 설립되었다. 예전엔 주로 ' 과기원'으로 부르기도 했다. 한국과학기술원법에 의하여 관리되고 있다. 타 대학들과 달리 정부내 감독부서는 교육부가 아니라 과학기술정보통신부이다. 이에 따라 타 대학교들이 적용받는 수시 6회 제한 등이 없다.

    27) 유전자 치료의 문제점은 무엇이 있나요?
    유전자 치료는 바이러스를 운반체로 사용하기 때문에 삽입 부위, 발현시기, 발현 장소를 조절해야 하는 문제점이 남아 있다. 바이러스 운반체가 혈액 세포 증식과 관련된 유전자 부위에 삽입되면 비정상적으로 백혈구 수가 늘어나 백혈병이 진행되는 부작용이 생길 수 있다. 정상
    ADA 유전자와 바이러스 DNA를 재조합할 때 DNA 재조합 기술이 사용되었다. 바이러스는 사람의 세포에 침입하여 자신의 DNA를 숙주 세포의 염색체에 끼워 넣어 증식하므로 정상 ADA 유전자의 운반체로 이용된다. 정상 ADA 유전자를 가진 세포를 조직 배양하여 대량으로 증식시킨 후 환자에게 주입하면 정상 ADA 유전자가 발현되어 ADA 단백질을 합성할 수 있다. 체세포를 이용한 유전자 치료는 체세포의 수명에 한계가 있으므로 주기적으로 정상 유전자를 가진 세포를 주입해야 하며, 생식 세포의 유전자까지 바뀐 것은 아니므로 유전병이 자손에게 유전된다.
