1) The seriousness of environmental issues in the cosmetics industry
Plastic environmental problems in the cosmetics industry are serious, with plastic accounting for the largest portion of all containers at 43% of the world's cosmetics container sales standards in 2018. In the packaging material and structure rating system, which took effect on March 24, 2021, 90% of cosmetics containers are evaluated as "difficulty in recycling," highlighting the seriousness of environmental problems in the cosmetics industry. Cosmetics containers are made of various materials such as glass, plastic, ceramics, and metal depending on the ingredients and functions, making it difficult to recycle. Based on the global sales of cosmetics containers in 2018, plastic accounts for the largest portion of all containers, with 65.9 billion cosmetic plastic waste generated.
