Learners are 16 years old, high school students in 10th grade in Korea. Most of them have intermediate-mid proficiency level. They are familiar with listening English that speakers have a slow pace and pronounce each word clearly. While students have a problem in understanding English that is said in the regular or fast pace as English native speakers usually speak. Students have studied the English subject four times a week in class that is mostly focused on reading English as English reading part of university entrance exam is harder. English listening teaching in class is mainly compose of picking out the essential information that is needed to answer the question. Therefore, they do not feel the need for studying the unnecessary rest of the listening part they do not understand. This listening will help learners develop basic comprehension of the texts and students can grow confidence in guessing the words, phrases and stories they do not know.
