咸安은 학문의 고장이라고 일컬을 수 있는데, 함안에 본격적으로 학자가 배출 되어 학문이 시작된 것은 조선 건국 이후부터이다. 高麗末 琴隱 趙悅과 茅隱 李 午의 咸安 정착이 咸安의 학문 興隆에 있어 하나의 큰 계기가 되었다고 볼 수 있다. 이후 각 성씨가 함안에 기반을 잡아 번성함으로 인하여 그 후손 가운데서 많은 학자들이 나왔다. 朝鮮 宣祖朝에 寒岡 鄭逑가 咸安郡守로 부임하여 학문을 일으키고 교육을 장 려하고영어 초록
Culture of Haman county included former Chilwon county, probably have begun since Alagaya dynasty have built. But most of documents had destroy by innumerable wars, so it is very difficulty to study the study and culture of Haman county in detail. However we can draw the deduction that at Alagaya dynasty peoples have already used Han characters freely, as many inscriped wooden tablets were excavated under gallery at Haman. At Haman county, the first instance that the scholars appeared and began to study was that Geumeun Choyul and Mochon Leeo have settled down in Haman. After that time, another family have gradually settled down following them, and henceforth the great number of scholars have come forth. Until King Sunjo, Chosun dynasty, Hangang Junggu has taken chief of Haman count, he began to promoted the studies of Haman and encouraged education of Haman. His this policy have made the study rank of Haman high and the lowest stratum of Haman study wide. Especially, he has compiled The local topography of Haman county which is the earliest local topography existing in our country. His compilation of the local topography of Haman county have made the scholars to know the traditions of Haman studies and cultures and have the senses of mission for cultivating Haman studies and cultures for the future. From reforming government by Injo, the studies of Kyeongsang province have declined, Haman county was not exception. Even though by the efforts of Gansong Choimdo, the studies of Haman have not cease to exist, from then great scholars have not appear and great works have not be written. But the scholars of Haman have kept building many oriental academies which scholars have worshipped ancient great scholars who have been born at Haman and they have discoursed academic subjects consistently. Because the tradition of Haman cultures have kept up. At the closing period of Chosun dynasty, Sungjae Heojun has taken chief of Gimhae count. as soon as he proceeded his new post, he started to lecture for scholars. They have dwelled in Keongsang Right province and have been thirsty for study long time. The disciple of Sungjae arrived 500 persons all total. Among them, disciple from Haman have arrived 90 persons. Among them, one have written his individual works arrived 29 persons. The studies of Haman could revival by completely education of Sungjae. Among disciples of Sungjae, Mansung Park Chibok was leader of that group. He have get handed down the scholastic mantle of capital and its environs school since Misu Heomok. After Sungjae’s death, Mansung has published his works, and has built memorial house which Sungjae’s disciples have keep worshipping for Sungjae, their respected teacher. Mansung was also the disciple of Jungjae Luchimung, who handed down directly from Toegae school of Yongnam. Because Mansung has harmonized the feature of capital and its environs school with Toegae school of Yongnam. Hence Haman studies contained the merits of two schools. Until 1937, the number of the works written by Haman scholars have arrived 200 kinds, and the monographs written by Haman scholars have arrived 30 kinds. As we have scrutinized, Haman has born many scholars and they have written many kinds of books. So we can conclude Haman is the county of study. If we will study these documents elaborately, we can prove the true character of Haman’study and culture.참고 자료
