“Bodily injury soon heals, but emotional injury takes longer.” Japanese immigrants came to the United States of America with the goal of fulfilling the American dream. In 1941, after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, the dreams of the entire Japanese American immigrant population went to hell. As a result of anti-Japanese sentiment, Japanese Americans were seen as traitors and were separated from the rest of the population and put into concentration camps. Their peaceful life was changed to a period of pain and anguish.
