If you want to watch a movie filled with actions and fear, I will recommend you to watch other movies such as King Kong because this movie does not have eye-popping actions. The monster in the Host is not as strong or humane as King Kong. However, it looks much stronger because, unlike in the other science fiction thriller movies, in The Host, its main fighting comes from battle with an ordinary family looking for a teenage girl. Although it’s a thriller movie, director Bong seemingly does not want to frighten audience through movie. Instead, from the beginning to the end, audience, especially if you are Korean, he seems to create this movie to criticize Korean government. This may explain why hideous creature in this movie is not strong to wreck havoc on everyone; the movie’s focus is on how the government fails to respond to numerous problems faced by normal people and rather worsen the situation. This movie imitates a big budget Hollywood blockbuster with political criticism on Korean government.
