Have you heard the news that Seoul Office of Education prohibited the corporal punishment in school by law? Corporal punishment, a kind of physical punishment that involves the deliberate infliction of pain for the purpose of disciplining a wrongdoer, has been a big issue in Korea society because of this decision. Human rights groups welcome that the rights of students are finally protected. However, innumerable problems occur after corporal punishment being banned; for example, one girl slapped her teacher on the face in a fit of anger after she was scolded (Mok A8). What a terrible situation this is! This situation is only part of numerous problems which were brought out from the prohibition of corporal punishment. Therefore, Seoul Office of Education should not prohibit the corporal punishment by law in secondary school until the alternatives are arranged for three reasons
