Today, the living standard is higher than ever in the history of the human; however, the rate of suicide is also higher than ever. In the United State of America, more than 6,000 people commit suicide every year, which means more than 15 people die every day because of suicide. The rate of suicide in my hometown of Korea is more serious than in the United States; it is double the rate of United States. People are getting mentally weaker than ever in the history of humans. Suicide is not surprising news to us anymore. In addition, suicide is a common subject that has appeared in many writers’ novels. For example, Shakespeare is historically the best English writer, and in his works, we can see suicide is a common source of material. Shakespeare’s four most famous tragedies all end with the suicide. In this essay I discuss the reasons why people commit suicide even though they knew that suicide is horrible thing and is a disaster to all people around those who have relationship with the person who committed suicide.
Suicide appeared in the world at the beginning of the history of human race. According to documents from the ancient period, we can know that people did commit suicide in ancient times. Why are people committing suicide? Through research, I realized there are three types of people who commit suicide with one common factor: They did not have the power to overcome the temptation of suicide. The first type of person has mental and physical pressures from the environment around them. The second type of person has a guilty conscience from self-criticism and sins they have committed. The final type of person is possessed by an evil sprit
