본 연구는 미술 감상의 치유적 가능성을 이론적 고찰과 실재적 적용을 통해 탐색하면서 그
의의와 적용 가능성을 밝히는 데 목적이 있다. 미술 감상의 이론적 고찰을 통해 미술 감상
과정에서 몰입과 창의성, 자아성장이라는 치유적 요소를 탐색할 수 있었으며, 이때 지식보다
체험으로서의 감상에 의의가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이를 기반으로 치유적 미술감상 교육방안
을 수립하였다. 그것은 첫째, 감상자는 여러 작품 중 한 작품을 선택한다. 둘째, 감상자는 충
분한 시간 동안 그 작품을 감상한다. 셋째, 미술작품에 대한 감상자의 내적 반응을 표현하고,
넷째, 그것에 대해 자신의 생각과 느낌을 이야기 한다 이다. 치유적 미술감상 활동의 실제적
가능성을 탐색하고자 성인 남녀 4명을 대상으로 실시한 결과, 참여자들은 작가와 미술작품에
자신의 내면을 투영하고 미술작품에 대한 반응을 표현하면서 자신의 모습을 탐색하고 통찰하
는 경험을 하였다. 또한 참여자들은 자신 뿐 아니라 주변 사람들의 상황과 작가를 연결하며
인식을 확장하였으며, 최종적으로 작가의 삶과 작품에 대해 깊이 있는 이해를 가질 수 있었
다. 치유적 미술감상은 아직 미술교육학계에서 논의가 이루어지지 않은 개념으로 더 많은 연
구가 필요하다. 본 연구는 미술교육학계에는 성인 미술 감상교육 뿐 아니라 정체성에 혼란을
겪는 청소년들에게 자기탐색의 새로운 방법으로 제안될 수 있으며, 초∙중∙고등학생들에게
미술감상을 통해 창의력과 미적감수성을 키우는 방법으로 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 또한 미술
치료학계에도 미술감상을 통해 사람의 마음을 돌보는 구체적 방법으로 치유적 미술감상방법
이 제안될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

영어 초록

The purpose of this study is to find out the significance and applicability of
the healing art appreciation by exploring them with theoretical consideration and
practical application. Through the theoretical consideration of art appreciation, this
study was able to explore the healing aspects of it, such as immersion, creativity,
and self-development while participants appreciate arts. When those healing aspects
happened, the researcher found out that there is more significance on the
experience-based art appreciation than the knowledge-based one. Based on the
findings, the educational principles of art appreciation were established. First,
participants choose one work among many artworks. Second, they spend enough
time to appreciate it. Third, they express the inner reaction towards it and lastly,
they talk about their thoughts and feelings from it. As a result of conducting the
healing art appreciation, based on the principles, by the four adult males and
females, the participants projected their inner thoughts into the artist and artworks
and expressed their reactions towards the artworks. This allowed the participants to
experience self-exploration and self-reflection. In addition, the participants widened
their awareness by connecting the surroundings of artists with others’ as well as
themselves. Finally, they reached the deep understanding of the life and works of
the artists. However, more studies should be conducted since the healing art
appreciation is not the concept which has been discussed in an art education
academia. This study can be suggested as a new method of self-exploration for
the adolescents who go through the identity crisis at the art education academia,
and furthermore, it can be used to help elementary, middle and high school
students develop their creativity and artistic sensibility. Also, it is expected that
these healing art appreciation methods could be suggested as specific ways to take
care of clients’ minds through art appreciation in the art therapy academia.
