다양한 학문분야에서 논의되고 있는 다양한 개념은 학문간 경계를 넘나들며 각각의 분과학문 발전에 기여하는 측면도 있지만 특정 학문 분야에서 借用되는 개념은 해석주체의 학문적 성향이나 借用하는 학문 공동체의 학문적 성향이나 특징에 따라 때로는 본래적 의미를 편파적으로 誤解하여 稀釋, 退色, 脚色되어 자기편의주의적으로 誤用되는 부정적인 현상이 발생하기도 한다. 체제, 체제접근, 체제적 사고와 같은 개념이 교육공학에서 활용될 때의 의미와 체제과학에서 이러한 개념이 창안되었을 때의 의미간에는 많은 격차가 발생하는 이유도 바로 이러한 맥락에서 설명될 수 있다. 이글은 체제과학의 본질적 속성과 원리를 전체성, 동형성, 창발성이라는 핵심개념에 비추어 개관하고, 체제과학의 학문적 발전과정을 분과학문별로 살펴봄으로써 체제과학의 교육공학적 誤解·誤用과정을 이론적 化石化(pertification) 현상과 방법론적 聖化現像에 비추어 비판적으로 논의한다. 마지막으로 체제과학의 교육공학적 시사점을 다음 5가지로 대별하여 논의한다; 첫째, 체제적인 관점에서 교육공학 연구의 인식론적, 방법론적 탐구논리의 재정립; 둘째, 설계과학과 체제과학의 통합화 추구; 셋째, 학문간 同型性발견을 통한 통일과학의 가능성 탐색과 절합적 통합추구; 넷째, 체제과학의 교육공학적 적용과정에서 제기되는 본질적 이상의 실천적 적용의 어려움과 불가능함의 구분이다. 결국 본 논문은 상식화, 당연화된 세계, 즉 “교육공학은 체제과학, 특히 일반체제이론을 받아 들여 이론적, 방법론적 기초로 삼고 있다”는 주장의 이면을 파고들어 체제과학의 교육공학적 적용과정에 나타나고 있는 誤解·誤用과정을 정면에 노정시켜 체제과학의 학문적 이상과 본질에 비추어 교육공학의 궤도이탈과정을 규명하는데 목적을 두고 있다.“학문을 연구하는 사람은 언제나 錘가 지나간 그늘진 곳에서 잿더미를 헤쳐야 할지 모른다. 그것이 그들의 운명이요, 그들의 가장 큰 보람 또한 거기에 있다” 이홍우

Systems concepts from different disciplines have had a major impact on the development of educational technology, showing that systems science, in particular, systems approach was the often stated theoretical justification behind instructional systems design. However, systems concepts comming from systems science have been misunders tood and misapplied to the field of educational technology. Systems thinking was dominated by the positivism and functionalism characteris tics of the traditional version of the scientific method, leading to the misconceptualization of concepts related to sys tems such as systems, systems approach and systems thinking, which are far from the nature of original notion of systems science. Consequently, there are huge gaps between meaning of systems concepts from systems science and meaning of those from educational technology.Given the fundamental differences in orientation between the competings trands of the systems science and educational technology, the nature and the as sumption of systems science are explored by looking into the core concepts like wholeness, isomorphism, andc emergence while outlining the basic viewpoints of systems movements which are of considerable importance in the different discipline. This is the basic building block for deconstructing how educational technologist misunderstand the original notion of systems concepts and principles of systems science in terms of theoretical and methodological pertification. Finally, four implications for the field of educational technology are drawn: ① reorientation of educational technology epis temoiogical and methodologically in terms of systemic concepts ; ② efforts to integrate design science into systems science; ③ exploration of universal science and articulation by identifying isomorphism among different disciplines ; ④ clear differentiation of academic difficulty from impossibility related to applying systems science to the field of educational technology. In sum, the aim of this article is to explore the misconceptualization of systems science by educational technologist and recast the directions of educational technology from the lens of systems science.
