Ⅰ.스포츠 마케팅이란?스포츠를 이용하여 제품판매의 확대를 목표로 하는 마케팅 기법으로서 기업은 스포츠마케팅을 통해 회사 및 회사제품의 인지도를 높이고 이미지를 개선하거나 유지하려는 것이 기본 목적이다. 이 마케팅은 일차적으로는 커뮤니케이션 효과를 얻기 위한 목적을 갖고 있으나 최종적으로 제품판매의 확대가 목표이다.
스포츠 의류 및 용품 생산업체에게는 매출과 직결되는 마케팅활동이고, 스포츠팀과 경기연맹 등 스포츠 단체에게는 보다 많은 재원을 확보하기 위한 마케팅활동이며, 일반기업에게는 스포츠를 이용하여 기존의 광고 또는 홍보활동 등을 보조해주는 강력한 마케팅 커뮤니케이션 도구이다.
스포츠 자체의 마케팅과 스포츠를 이용한 마케팅 두 분야로 구별된다. 스포츠 자체의 마케팅은 스포츠 경영학의 시각으로 관람스포츠와 참여스포츠에서 많은 관중이나 회원을 확보하기 위한 활동이고, 스포츠 제조업 분야에서 스포츠용품이나 시설 및 교육프로그램을 판매하기 위한 마케팅활동이며, 각종 스포츠단체가 재원을 확보하기 위해 집행하는 마케팅활동을 의미한다.
스포츠를 이용한 마케팅은 경영학의 마케팅 및 기업의 관점에서 볼 때 스포츠 후원을 나타낸다. 스포츠 후원은 기업이 현금이나 물품 또는 노하우, 조직적 서비스를 제공함으로써 스포츠스타, 팀, 연맹 및 협회, 스포츠행사를 지원하여 마케팅 커뮤니케이션의 여러 목표를 달성하기 위한 기획조직실행통제하는 모든 활동이다. 즉 상업적 목적을 달성하기 위해 스포츠활동에 재정적 또?이에 상응하는 지원을 제공한다.
스포츠를 이용한 마케팅의 다양한 활동은 크게 직접사업과 간접사업으로 구분한다. 직접사업에는 스포츠 방송중계의 광고를 독점하는 계약 형태로 방송사가 중계권료를 행사주관자에게 지불하는 방송후원과, 행사비용을 부담하는 대가로 행사타이틀 사용권, 휘장사용권 등을 얻는 이벤트후원, 그리고 경기장 안의 팬스플로어스코어보드나 인쇄물 등에 특정기업의 광고를 게재하는 매체상품화 등이 있다.
