본문내용
Automaticity
- Fast, fairly effortless, unlimited, by long-term memory.
- Grammar could overwhelm learners, if they become too centered on the formal aspects of language.
- Fluency rather than Accuracy.
- Through an inductive approach to use language without thinking about them.
- Subconscious acquisition of language through meaningful learning.
- from a focus on form to a focus on purposes. (function, meaning)
- from limited control to a relatively unlimited control.
Meaningful Learning
- Process of relating new material to already existing cognitive concepts. These associative links create stronger and long-term retention than rote learning.
- Inquire learners' needs, goals, interests, and background knowledge.
- Activate learner's previous knowledge by giving a general orientation.
- Too much grammar, memorization, mechanical drilling lend to rote learning.
- Through meaningful practice, sequences first produced by controlled processing become automatic, which means that they can be made available very rapidly with minimal attention (peripheral) to language forms.
