1. Abstract
This experiment is to measure the moment of inertia of disk, bar, particle (point mass) with different radius and rotational axis.
2. Introduction
There are two types of motion of an object. One is translation and the other is rotation. The newton`s laws of motion states about translation of a point mass, but those laws can be applied to a rotating system by some calculations. As mass represents inertia for translation, rotational inertia (also called moment of inertia) can be defined as a scalar quantity for resistance of the system (or body) to a change in its state of rotational motion. We will verify the theoretical value of moment of inertia of different objects through some measurements.
