본 연구는 대학생을 대상으로 하여 스트레스, 자아존중감이 불안에 미치는 영향력을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구대상자는 대전지역 4개 대학교 남녀대학생 398명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 본 연구는 SPSS WIN 12.0 프로그램을 사용하였으며, 성별 및 대학생이 지각하는 수준이 스트레스와 자아존중감 및 불안에 영향을 미치는 부분을 연구하였다. 이에 다중회귀분석과 Beck의 기준에 따라 불안 수준을 분석하였다. 성별에 따른 스트레스, 자아존중감, 불안의 차이를 분석한 결과 스트레스의 하위영역에서, 성별에 따른 스트레스의 차이에서는 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났으나, 남학생들의 자아존중감이 여학생들의 자아존중감보다 유의하게 높게 나타났고, 불안에 대한 차이는 여학생이 남학생보다 불안정도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 대학생의 스트레스, 자아존중감과 불안과의 상관분석 결과, 스트레스가 높을수록 불안수준이 높아지는 정적 상관관계를 보이고, 자아존중감이 높아질수록 불안수준은 낮아지는 부적 상관관계를 보였다. 스트레스 근원요인과 불안과의 관계에서는 자기 자신 스트레스가 관련성이 가장 높고, 그 다음으로 학교생활, 친구대인관계, 가정생활 순으로 나타났다. 스트레스 근원 요인과 자아존중감이 불안에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위하여 다중회귀 분석한 결과, 자기 자신 스트레스, 가정생활 스트레스와 자아존중감이 불안에 영향을 주고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 자기 자신 스트레스, 가정생활 스트레스와 자아존중감 중에서 자기 자신 스트레스가 가정생활 스트레스와 자아존중감 보다 불안에 대해서 좀 더 많은 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다.

영어 초록

College students are apt to spend their school lives in state of being very anxious mentally and emotionally by the confusion of values, change in role performance caused by new social demand and accelerated expectation in the complicated and rapidly changing society along with psychological pressure for employment. This study was carried out for the purpose of figuring out the effect of stress and self esteem of the college students on their anxiety. For the study, 398 male and female college students from 4 colleges in Daejeon were chosen as the subjects for a questionnaire. According to the study results, first, the findings from the analysis on the difference in stress, self esteem by sex appeared that both male and female students perceived their internal stress as the strongest stress in the sub region of the stress. And then the stress from school life were about the similar level to their internal stress, and for female students, friends/ personal relation stressed them more than home life does to them In self-esteem, Male students' were higher than that of female students' and the test result of their difference appeared to be 0.000 in significance probability, considerably high difference in statistics. In anxiety, female students' were higher than that of male students' and the test result of their difference appeared to be 0.003 in significance probability, considerably high difference in statistics. Second, the analysis on correlation between the college students' stress, self esteem and anxiety showed the positive correlation that when stress increased, anxiety level also increased, and negative correlation that when self esteem raised, anxiety level lowered. In relationship of underlying stress factor and anxiety, their internal stress were mostly related, followed by in order of school life, friend and personal relationship, home life. Third, the results of multiple regression analysis on the effect of underlying stress factor, self esteem on anxiety, appeared that their own selves, home life, self esteem were influential on anxiety, and among them, their internal stress were the greatest in influencing their anxiety compared with home life and self esteem. Fourth, the result of the analysis on the students' anxiety level by Beck anxiety scale appeared that 16.5% of the subjects were in the state of being anxious, and 4.0% of them were the state of being overly anxious.
