Ⅰ. Necessity of Education of the Aged
Everyone has the right for heath and happiness. But, in this contemporary society, it seems to be hard for the aged to live satisfactorily. Dave called this society "Mental Desert" He wrote it caused by development of science and technology, explosion of knowledge, and crisis of modern civilization in Foundations of lifelong Education, Pergamon Press Inc., New York, 1978, pp. 357-67.
. Because of side effects of modern civilization, the aged get to feel problems directly. Civilization makes the aged and the young separated. They can't find proper ways of communication each other. There are lots of things in society focused on young and middle age, not very many on old age. Moreover, demographic factors(Merriam & Brockett, 1997, pp. 192-98) can be pointed out. The average life of human beings is prolonged due to medical development. So this society is aging rapidly. And finally, those all things brought the problems of the old.
