6. Procedure & Observation
6-1. simple distillation of chloroform
○1 온도가 올라가는데 오래 걸리므로 미리 slidac을 transformer와 oil bath에 연결하여 chemical fume hood 안에 설치 후 RPM 30~50 정도로 조절해 둔다. 이때 oil bath는 후에 있을 교반을 위해 미리 transformer에 연결한 hot plate stirrer, jack 위에 올리고 clamp를 이용해 thermometer을 oil bath에 담가지도록 달아둔다.(water bath는 water보다 끓는점이 높은 물질을 사용할 시 water가 증발해 버리므로 유기실험에서는 대체로 heating coil과 bp 400°C 이상인 silicon oil이 들어 있는 Oil bath를 사용한다.)
○2 50 mL round bottom flask에 Pasteur pipette, pipette bulb, 50 mL glass cylinder을 이용해 chloroform 45.0 mL을 넣고, analytical balance, weighing paper, spatula를 이용해 MgSO4 5.0024 g 을 넣고, magnetic stirring bar을 넣어준다.
○3 hood 안에 clamp를 이용해 distillation set, rubber hose를 설치하고, Figure 1.처럼 시료가 든 50 mL round bottom flask는 distillation set의 우측 하단에, 25 mL receiver round bottom flask는 좌측 하단에 설치한다. Distillation set의 좌측에 위치한 또 다른 구멍은 parafilm, septum을 이용해 막아close system을 만든다.
