본문내용
Several kinds of organizational malfunctionings are usually detected in bureaucracies. It seems like the bureaucracies inevitably acquire countereffective, dysfunctional, pathological behavioral patterns by its nature. Those behavioral patterns are called bureaucratic pathologies or bureaupathologies.
Gerald E. Caiden is renowned as being an expert on bureaucratic pathology. Per Caiden, bureaupathologies are "The systematic defects of bureaucracies that cause individual workers within them to be reproached for misconducts. They cannot be corrected by separating the guilty from the organization as the misconducts will continue irrespective of the organization's composition." In other words, according to him, bureaupathologies are just intrinsic and diffused in bureaucracies.
He also listed up 178 common bureaupathologies. The list includes blurring issues, dedication to status quo, delay, excessive social costs.
