·Designing Digital Clocks
① Research on the below factors, as they are needed for the project
- 1 MHz crystal oscillator in the training kit
It is a kind of oscillator made of crystal. Since the order of the crystal atoms are arranged orderly, using piezoelectric effect on crystal to make the clock signal very accurately. It has timing accuracies to 1 second in 30 years. It is also well-resisting against the change of temperature and voltage. The cost of the crystal oscillator is relatively effective compared with other oscillators. It’s efficiency is fairly high considering the cost. So, it is widely used as pulse maker in many circuits.[1] In this experiment, 1MHz crystal oscillator is used in clock signals, and we must take the step to changing 1MHz to 1Hz. That can be possible using a group of D flip-flops.
