Recently, the The Internet real-name system become a controversial issue because of conflict between Google and the South Korea government. One month ago, the government requested Google to adapt the system, but the proposal was turned down. The reason for the refusal was that the system is not profitable to Google. Moreover, the company said that the system is ineffective to stop cyber terror. Still, there are many arguments over the system. Do we need to maintain this system, or do we need to abolish it? there are three reasons for abrogating the system.
First, the Internet real-name system infringe freedom of expression. Internet`s anonymity enables people to express their ideas freely. This makes it possible to enhance freedom of the press and the minorities can voice their opinions without reveal themselves. Therefore, the system impinges such freedom of anonymous expression and oppresses online writers. Actually, the system is used as a cotrol device for the government. Since so many people called the president`s name, the government strengthened the system for threatening the masses. The case of `Minerva` was also the similar thing of abusing the system. To save freedom of speech, we should discard the system.
