본 연구는 한국아동청소년패널의 1, 2차년도 자료를 이용하여, 취학 전 유아교육기관 경험이 있는
초등학생 2학년을 대상으로 취학 전 기관 경험에 따른 아동의 학업성취 만족도 및 정서문제의 차이를
t검정과 위계적 회귀분석을 통해 알아보았다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 취학 직전 1년 간 경험한
기관 유형은 유치원이 높은 비중을, 가장 오래 경험한 기관 유형은 유치원과 어린이집이 비슷한 비중을
차지했다. 아동의 일반적 배경은 기관에 따라 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 취학 직전 1년 간 경험한 기관 유형
과 취학 전 가장 오래 다닌 기관에 따른 아동의 학업성취 만족도 일부 과목에서 기관유형에 따라 유의
한 차이가 있었다. 셋째, 취학 전 기관 이용 기간이 학업성취 만족도 및 정서문제에 미치는 영향을 살
펴본 결과, 어린이집, 유치원 이용 기간이 정서문제 총합에, 어린이집 이용 기간이 주의집중에 영향을
미쳤다. 반면 기관 이용 기간은 학업성취 만족도에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 학업성취 만족도에는
기관 이용 기간에 따른 유의한 영향은 나타나지 않았다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 영유아 시기부터 시작
될 수 있는 교육격차를 줄이려는 정부 차원의 노력에 대한 지지와 유아교육 기관의 질적 수준을 높이
려는 노력에 대한 정책적 함의가 도출된다.

영어 초록

This study performed an analysis on the difference in child's academic achievement
satisfaction and emotional problems in accordance with the experience in preschool
institutions using t-test and hierarchical regression analysis. The data is from the Panel
Survey on Children and Youths conducted in National Youth Policy Institute. The results
of the analysis are as follows. First, kindergarten occupied the largest proportion in the
types of the institution one year immediately before primary school, and the longest
experience was the childcare center. The general family background of the child who
experienced the childcare center just before primary school was under low-income,
residence out of the capital, and parents of high school education. Second, there were
statistical significant difference in some parts of child's academic achievement total
satisfaction depending on the types of the institutes experienced one year before
primary school and the longest attended institutions. A child experienced kindergarten
for the longest period shows statistical significant lower marks especially in aggression
than a child in childcare center. Third, the total emotional problem was influenced by
the period of the childcare center, kindergarten, and the child’s attention by the period
of the childcare center. Academic achievement satisfaction did not show any significant
impact according to duration of institutions. Based on these results, the following policy
implications can be drawn. First, it is necessary to support the government effort
reducing the education gap from the beginning of life. Second, there is a need for the
development of tools clarifying the effect of free pre-school education in order to
invigorate the government policy on public education. Third, efforts are needed to raise
the quality of early childhood education to support the social and emotional
development of childhood.
