Many sandplay students rightly concentrate on learning all that they can aboutunderstanding and interpreting sandplay pictures. However, this may lead them toneglect the importance of the therapeutic frame with in which the sandplay takesplace. Many of us will have visited art galleries where we admired interesting andbeautiful paintings. Chances are we did not even notice that they were framed. In fact, the frame of a painting can subtly enhance and complement the picture, or utterlydistract, conflict and even destroy the beauty of the image.
